Funny you should mention this, I'm toying with entering a couple of PFS sponsored Chinese scooters in next year's Cannonball... Matt It's one thing to enter, but an entirely different thing to finish... It would be cool for someone to try the Cannonball with a Chinese scooter and make a good showing. Best of luck to you. Luckily, I've got decent parts support. Matt

Answer this: Why hasn't a single Chinese scooter competed in any Cannonball event? Funny you should mention this, I'm toying with entering a couple of PFS sponsored Chinese scooters in next year's Cannonball... Matt

EFI is better in every aspect , reliability , performance and MPG . Maybe it is the illusion with the 10 inch wheels on the VIP that make it feel faster since the Aprilias have larger 13s they are way more stable , Matt I poked around there did not see a EFI to carb thread It's in there somewhere, I've read about it a bunch of times. When I get a free few minutes I'll post up a link or two. Matt

I did'nt want to respond to this cause I thought it would get political. IT HAS.I like my chinese scooter,But I hate the circumstances and abhorrent conditions in it's place of origin.I beleive wholeheatedly that AMERICAN GREED.is more responsible for the exploitation of chinese people than OL Mousey tounge himself! The Nixon administration apparently had a plan...and it worked I actually sort of disagree with this. I would say that Chinese greed is the primary driver for the exploitation of Chinese people. I feel the Chinese would agree. I know the people in China we do business with daily do. American greed is just one of the many enablers that the Chinese use. Really, it's a very, very different world over there. So much so that you really have to spend some time there to get a feel for it. Neither their culture nor their business acumen can be compared to ours... Apples and oranges... Some of China is amazing, some heartbreaking. I suppose in that regards we may be more alike than I give us credit for. The people are oppressed, yes, but the complexity in how it occurs is mind boggling. Anyway, it's always an interesting subject when we start talking about the Chinese people and all of our views on how and why things are the way they are there. Welp, that's my .02 anyway. Matt

So how many little kids were putting scooters together? Lol, approximately zero. ZNEN is a pretty impressive operation actually. Matt

You're kidding me? This is china you are talking about and that is government sanctioned video made for world consumption. This is the same country that firewalls the Internet. Little gets out that the government doesn't want out. You're a smart guy I can't believe you buy into that. The first video is indeed the ZNEN factory. I should know, I've been there. Matt

K&N vs. UNI
by: fugaziiv - Aug 21, 2013 15:13:12 GMT -5
Post by fugaziiv on Aug 21, 2013 15:13:12 GMT -5
i hate UNI it has to be oiled and gets messy when i take carb off and it needs to be cleaned alot So a K&N filter installed dry is okay ? No. K&N should be oiled as well. They both work well, it just boils down to if you want a foam filter (UNI) or a paper filter (K&N). They both need to be oiled and cleaned regularly. Matt

NEVER_EVER_EVER put the rubber in even 2nd place! the first mod I did to my scooter was to get rid of the stock tires and put a set of michelins on it. All the mods in the world are useless if the piont where they meet the road is compromised. It is the heart of the scooter. Its how you keep it under control. IMO tires and brakes are the most important improvement you can make I agree with this. The tires are the only part of your ride that touches the road, and this is far too important to overlook. Matt

Don't sleep on transmission parts either. You can get quite a bit there as well.

Hmm, I haven't had reports of many people try to use the Hoca pistons in someone else's BBK... Actually, with too much compression the performance pistons tend to come apart on the QMB engines, so it's probably good that you called this project when you did. Do you know what company makes the Scrappy kit?

how comeyou guys don't sell a 100cc qmb 139? BBk already installed. I think you did offer itat one time We used to sell an 80cc QMB139 engine, and it was awesome. We purchased them like that out of China. It wasn't a BBK so much as a variant that is used elsewhere in the world. Anyway, last year while a container of 80cc engines was in transit, the EPA certificate on the engine expired and Customs barred them from entry into the country. We had to destroy them all. Because the engine isn't used on a scooter sold here in the states anymore we cannot provide EPA certification on the engine for future sales either, so consequently we no longer carry that variant. We don't have the manpower to build and sell engines with a BBK already installed. In the last few weeks we've sold and shipped several hundred engines... Matt

Everybody out of stock...hmmm what does that mean? In this case it just means people have been selling a lot of engines over the last few weeks. The QMB139 engines still have their EPA certs and are freely flowing out of China. We aren't out of stock yet, and we'll have another container of engines here by the end of the month. Matt
