ah ok so the way it works is your stator should be sized to be just slightly more than you need to run your electric system and charge the battery a little tiny bit at a 700 to 1000 rpm idle. the voltage goes up with the rpm anything over 13.5v to 14v is dumped into a resister. this stops the voltage from going to high and damaging your stuff.
it doesn't stop the stator from pulling more and more power out of the engine as the rpm rises. unregulated would probably be something like 70v or 80v so at higher rpm large amounts of power are just dumped into that resistor and it can get very hot. I have seen them melt the plastic around them if not in a well ventilated place in the scooter.
you can't pull only the power you need out like you can with an automotive alternator. The scooter is basically running a permanent magnet generator that pulls a fixed percentage of available engine power and either supplies it to necessary electric components or dumps it into heat. so it directly slows you down all the time even with the radio off.

welcome to scooting
Check the oil every other gas fill.
Remove the filter and other obstructions in the belt cooling intake if you want more than 2000 miles on a belt.
Replace all the vacuum line and gas line at your soonest convenience.

you should be adding 1.25mm base gasket then
but the best way to check is to turn the engine over by hand with the old head gasket and no spark plug put a flat bit of Pleistocene, clay or soft wax on top of the piston maybe an 1/8 inch and if it doesn't clonk on the valves take it back apart and check the stuff to see if the valves have dented your clay.
you can probably just double up on an ordinary base gasket 2.5mm isn't much almost a tenth of an inch .0984 of which you only have to deal with half

exhaust leak is allowing oxygen in to burn leftover fuel in the pipe before it can cool enough. more fuel makes it worse.

you can order the size you need direct no need to by the Chinese econo junk
if you apply heat to bearing it will expand slightly more than the aluminum will making it stay tight.
I recommend just getting the harbor freight puller it works

it would still click if that was the case
I had a solenoid start to go bad and it would work only when cold and jam up when hot
