Ok so I have a 50cc 2007 TaoTao Moped. When I got from prev. owner it would start after about 10-15 minutes of cranking it over. So my Dad and I repaired and replaced 99% of all the parts and fixed wiring errors. After a while I actually could start it with the electric starter and rapidly opening and closing the throttle. The first time it started from that it started to runaway and got to about 8000 rpm before I was able to actually shut it down because kill switch didn't shut it off. After some idler tweaking it ran pretty well if I could get it started. Then when I was cranking it over it made a pop and a nasty black cloud came out of the exhaust. Now it just cranks over and sounds like it will start but won't. Even with starting fluid/ether. It gets to about 1000-1100 rpms and won't start. Help please.

I would also replace the cdi box. If that doesn’t do it try using a different coil wire, you can use one from a car and just twist the ends in. Your scooter shouldn’t take 15 min to start.
