Indeed my friend.. I can let the tourists slide on rules sometimes (not everyone lives in a hotel) Locals that step into traffic or drive while on the phone is my own personal pet peeve and completely different. I watched a bicyclist get hit on MLK and Carey about 2 weeks ago. Bikes and humans are not supposed to bend like that........ I wish that image could be forgotten. Crosswalks are there for a reason--- all too often they are not used. It's just sad people have to pay the ultimate price for a lack of patience. Riders have been hit hard this year (no pun intended) Keep the distractions down to a minimum and be safe out there. A thief gets what they deserve at times but, NOBODY should die for transportation. JMHO GOOD LUCK ALL!!!!!!

I made no tangent... Just providing My opinion good sir. You have not disproved my opinion. If needed a carb repair kit is easy enough to get..... I assume an Ultrasonic cleaning would cost a bit more than $0.00 thus my response. Please do not underestimate new members.
NO, I Meant JR. How do I know these names you ask??? (one of those folks is not likely to be posting anytime soon) Like I said before it looks like a decent group of people are on this forum now....
You are recommending an Ultrasonic cleaning and Carb replacement before you know if the old one is working or not...... Seems like a suggestion from a shop owner IMHO. I definitly need new parts in your opinion.
I thank you for your suggestions. a 50cc carb rebuild kit maybe needed but, I am NOT that far yet.
I will get back to you if needed.

WOW, rcq went all ultrasonic cleaner on me..... Seems like a decent idea but, I live in Las Vegas. China scooter parts are an easy get. I prefer a wire brush and carb cleaner -_-
The idle circuit in the carb is not that difficult to clean my friend. Do you own a shop? That kind of talk seems like an upsell when fresh gas could do the same thing in conjunction with a small wire to clean the jet..... JMHO. We will see what happens in the next few days.
Brakes are a definite issue Thank You for the heads up!!!!!!
For now a start condition will be the goal. BTW, Is JR or alleyoop still around? How about Luke or Bluefront? (past forum members)
Thanks again for any and all advice given!!! I hope to learn from the best!!!!!!

Thanks!!!! Tires are decent, (Need air of course). They were filled with nitrogen so loss of pressure is minimal but, I thank you for the valve stem comment. (I did not think of that) The rubber ones are indeed cracked-- Back when I was really into scooters, a website sold metal valve stem replacements- I forget the site name (I think Chick was in the address) Anyone know what I'm talking about? Oil -Gear and engine were changed every 600 miles on the odometer. 4943 miles are on the scoot when parked. So, indeed some fluids will be changed. Fuel lines are good but, will be replaced at a later time I admit brakes are a bit of an issue... Never had ANY maintenance done but, for now my goal is a simple start up..... I do have a new drive belt ( I bought one before it was parked and never installed it) Maybe I should scrap it and start fresh...... Also, Thank you for the rodent comment Ricardo... That is not a thing I thought of, although the garage is known to have house mice, no wires look to be damaged and the exhaust is clean---- The rats were living in a couch and the mercury cougar parked next to the scoot.... Thanks for the feedback!!! If anyone is interested I may post pics/vids when I figure out how.... Thanks again!!! Good Luck everyone!!!!!

Mine is sitting at 4943 Miles or whatever that equals in Kilometers. I put her away wet, Then, life happened... This Beast was meant to be free.. All 49 cc's are hungry for action 1 piston + 1 rider = 11 on the fun meter. My math maybe off....... Thanks for the warm welcome... My Mercury Cougar is also in need of some TLC but, that's for a different forum. GOOD LUCK and Good Ride!!!!

Don't everyone rush in to help at the same time now...... I just removed and drained the gas tank of it's 3 year old gas. Gotta love that smell, second only to brake fluid. Tomorrow the carb comes off and although I hate to spend money, A can of carb cleaner will be bought to flush out the system...... Nothing quite like that ethanol buildup to hinder startup. I expect a decent greenish color Good Luck and be safe out there!!!

Please forgive me, I thought the OP had already made the upgrade........
My point was it being a Retro issue only... It is not. More of a common scoot issue for many styles including my own.
I would NOT say they are crap, but instead, Adiquate for the price point. Much like most parts on a cheap scoot.
Have a Great afternoon and thanks for the Link !!!!!! I maybe buying a new set myself.

You link to a genuine honda product... A Rukus is by no means retro my friend......
Standard China part IMO made to wearout a bit quicker than OEM Japan parts. Just my humble opinion. Retro or not the same parts are used in many styles.
I could use that as a rear shock for example....... Just sayn.
A coil over shock is stiffer by design.....depending on the spring
Not trying to start a debate just pointing out universal parts. China scoots are known to have a SOFT suspension to begin with.

I would suggest calling the parts dealer/seller for verification.......
The "China Standard" is a bit varied even from the same factory...
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Seems like "retro" is not your issue. An average quality chinese scooter would be more to blame IMO.......
Better parts make a better scooter....... AFAIK.
The PDI should have addressed this issue........ any shock that will fit should work just fine.......
Good on you for getting an upgrade.
Have fun and stop speeding (65 seems a bit fast) Just Joking

No need to "use them all" in fact, The one you have pictured will work just fine. A bit of gasket sealant (RTV) would also do the trick.
No need for multiple seals unless you are bridging a gap for some reason.
Good Luck!!!!!!

Seems like someone needed a battery more than you did......
At least they did not leave you with flat tires too......
Sure this sucks but, all is well since you got a new one anyway. (Trying to see the positive side of this issue) It could have been worse. No scooter at all would have been a real bummer.....
Maybe it's good you got a new battery with the season being so hot anyway....
Safety bolts are a good idea but, a decent thief will have a torx set anyway....
You could hide the battery elsewhere (under the seat or farrings) and leave a "dummy" in the battery box if you think it will help. Heck, you could strap a Car Battery to the rear as a decoy...... Lots of things could be done but, a thief will get what they want.
Whatever you decide, Be safe and GOOD LUCK!!!!!
