Well my variator and the backplate came together, and sliders are the same brand as the variator, so I don't think it's a problem of mismatched parts. The only thing that isn't dmc brand is the stock drive face, but it seems like most people use that since it's 115mm and matches most performance variators. I opened it up today and one had flipped, so I fixed it and reinstalled it carefully making sure none of em got dislodged when I put it back on. It seems ok for now, hopefully it won't be a recurring problem
Well whatever you do, you should definitely get a jet kit, i have a 150 so i cant help you with the carb advice tho. Every bike likes a different set up, so the only way to rly find out the optimum jetting is to try a few out.
Oh yeah, you could trade them (rear clutch) for that variator nut until you can replace it. Search Parts for scooters.com- part number 175-35. Sliders, they do only go in 1 way. ( youtube) The rear clutch takes way less lbs torque. like 20-25. Variator/kinda more!
Thanks for the reply. I'm still confused tho lol, where does that washer you linked to go? Because I DO have the one that goes behind the nut that holds the variator on. I was just wondering if there's any others ones, if so where do they go?
I just installed sliders for the first time, I put some 13g ones in and for a couple of days they were running great, I really liked the feel of em. Then today out of nowhere I noticed my bike started bogging on acceleration, and it seems to be running fine once up to speed. I'm thinking a slider might have flipped over, im gona open it up again tmrw to check. My question is how do you keep them from flipping? I like these sliders, but I don't want this to keep happening. Also, is there supposed to be a washer in between the variator plates? Because the only washer I have is behind the clutch nut.I'm hoping I didn't lose a washer when I changed my variator out a month or so ago
I also got a starter puller and the special tool for the starter clutch nut, which was like 18 bucks for the pair and it came in perfect shape for what it's worth. Also got a gasket which is fine, but I'd be careful ordering from them
Wow and this is the kind of response I got.... "Items are brand new. As how the Chinese package it I have no idea. Maybe they did it outside or an employee did not wash their hands. And the items were manufactured at the start of 2016. Chinese are not gonna use top of the line oil They will use the cheapest thing possible which is why most will tell you when you buy a brand new scooter immediately change the engine oil and transmission oil If your not happy then you may return it. Use the return button in your purchase history."
Hardly any accountability. I rarely have problems with eBay sellers, but sometimes like this happens. It definitely looks new for the most part, but I duno why the bolts are covered in freaking dirt. I'm just gona open it and see if the rollers inside are fine and everything. It was only 20 bucks for a 20 sprag which is cheap, but now I see why.
So I ordered a new 20 sprag starter clutch for my gy6, I thought I found a good deal, it was from unique scooter parts and it said new. Well I got it today and when I looked at it it definitely looks all wrong for a supposedly new part. From the outside it doesnt look bad, but inside there is what looks like 20 year old packing grease mixed with dirt all over it. The indents where the bolts are are so covered in this dirt like paste that I can't even see em, they look almost orange too like they're corroded...I guess I'm probably gona ask for a refund. I definitely shouldn't just go ahead and use it right? I'm thinking it just sat on the shelf too long and the packing grease went bad, but idk why it would be that dirty. Anyone else seen packing grease turn into the sort of sludge you see on the bottom of your engine? Or are they just trying to fleece me and send me an old part?
Pirelli makes nice 130//10s, and 120//10s (sl26). I picked mine up for like 80 bucks for the pair shipped. Mine came with 120/ rear, and 130/ front, I'm sure the 130/ would fit on the back if i wanted, but mines a longcase
Yeah, the stepped seat is weird. Mine puts me in an abnormally close position to the bars if I were to actually sit on the front part, and I'm only 5'6". but I find its comfortable to just sit further back on it and stretch my legs out and rest my feet on the front fairing when cruising around.
