Like I said, fork oil is approx the weight of transmission oil (except that the weight of trans oil is not controlled). There are different weights available - 10 02 12 ... maybe 15. And like I said - try just adding a small bit of weight to what is already in there to stiffen it up. You can remove the forks and make a big deal out of it if you wish ... but just opening the top (unweight the wheel first!) and with an eyedropper squirt in a little blurt of heavy weight oil. It will mix with what's in there and make it a higher viscosity. thanks, I'll probably take the old oil out though and add some new transmission or fork oil rather than add to thw eXi sting oil. Cuz I've seen ppl pull black oil out of the forks lol, I dunno what they put in it in the factory.

Might just try that as soon as I get the time. So busy with school finals now that I won't be able to play with the scoot for a couple of weeks. I'm not sure what I'm gona do in regards to them being too soft though, I'll probably just try and change the oil first. They could be low or empty for all I know. Duno what sort of weight I'll use though, anyone know what stock fork oil weight is? I wanna get way heavier oil than stock and see if it helps

Sorry about the thread jack jtron but kid's with broken scooters and no parental outlet seem to help themselves unintended. As far as sliders flipping i have seen this but only on some performance variators when the ramp plate was to steep,(The restrictr washer was not removed) the plate opened up too much allowing the sliders room to flip. Now i could be wrong as i only know this for the DR.P sliders, other sliders like stage 6 might differ. Where does the restrictor washer go? Is that the one that's only on the 50ccs? Or is it the spacer that goes between the boss and the drive face?

Straight from the factory my front forks have always been much too soft. Quite easy to bottom them out. Im looking to stiffen them up a bit, would a heavier oil suffice, or should I try and preload the spring with a washer too? What weight oil would be best if currently it's much too soft and bouncy?
Also, a bit unrelated, but also fro. The factory my steering column seems slightly off, not enough to be a huge problem, but annoying enough. My bars are turned slightly right when the wheel is straight. I duno if it's possible to straighten them out like on a bicycle, isn't there a bolt that goes through the center of the tube them keeping them in place? Is it possible to just loosen them up, realign, then tighten like on a bicycle?

Also it seemed to be the same track where the slider flips, I switched sliders around to be sure it wasn't a defective one and it was still the same track. I guess it could be any number of thing. Too much to deal with right now since I'm studying for finals though. May get to the bottom of it eventually when I have time

Well, took a look at everything. It seems like my clutch may be out of balance, it was a bit wobbly when I was lookin at it spin, but its not loose or anything. I have no idea how that happened or what would be the best course of action. Dunno if I'll need a new clutch, or if a good service will do. I just put it some rollers for now so I don't have to worry about em flipping

Interesting, thanks for the tip. It didn't seem bad when I was looking at it, it looked like cosmetic wear to me, but if it's a recurring problem I may consider changing it. I didn't seem to have bad belt wear, my stock belt (gates) lasted like 3000 miles, and it wasnt too bad when I switched it out, but I did anyways to be safe If you can see the wear, that is bad. These things are designed with specific angles, and smooth surfaces for a reason. There is nothing cosmetic about a variator, it is a working part of your transmission normally never exposed or visible until you take things apart and every part of it from the ramps the sliders roll on to the circumference and angles of the surfaces even the outside are all taken into account when designing these to keep yoru crank balanced and transmission from abnormally wearing down itself and the parts around it. I hear ya, but I dont think it really looks like wear, it felt flat, I thought it just looked like it's normal color change from the belt but who knows

Well, it lasted 1 1/2 days and it freaking flipped again. I'm just gona switch back to damn rollers. It sucks because the sliders performed well until they flip.

One time a lady knocked mine over in a parking lot. It wouldn't start for way too long. I just kept cranking it though and it eventually turned over. I think the carb got flooded, so maybe check your carb?

Thanks, yeah I need to take a look at my clutch. When I was changing the variator I used an air gun and blew out a ton of belt dust from it, so I expect it may be pretty gunked up. I have like 3500 miles on so it's about time haha

Here's a pic of my drive face, forgot to get a pic of the variator. At first I rode it with 12g rollers and they felt too light. Only have like a day or two of riding with 13g sliders and they feel better, so it might be riding higher now, top speed feels slightly better at least. Tell me what you think. I'm gona just get a marker next chance I get to see if it's reaching any higher now, but what is about the optimum distance from the edge to have?

Now I know a lot of you guys mark your variator with a marker to see how high your variator maxes out, what's about the best distance you can get from the edge of it? I have a 115mm variator that ive had for about a monthand I noticed when I took it off to fix a flipped slider that I could see where the belt polished the metal on it and the drive face, and there was a fairly big gap around the edge where it doesn't look like it's reaching, maybe like 3/4 of a cm (just measured roughly against my pinky nail lol I shoulda got a ruler). It looks to me like it has room to go higher. BTW I have a new 842 belt on there that I replaced when I put the new variator on.
