Only he knows what has happened between himself and that scoot behind closed doors...

Pull it out when cold and make sure it is not already fully extended. Basically pull it out, turn on key, and watch to see it actually moves...

Take one of the ones you have to the hardware store and match it up. Nearly every hardware store should have one. If you don't find the exact length one slightly too short would be better than too long...

Well, you're right there! Only, there are no <$1k taiwanese deals out there! Those chinese scoots are sold all over. There are no taiwanese scoot or motorcycle dealers in Miami, and very few in Florida. Not quite true as usual www.kymcousa.com/dealers/index.aspx Looks like there are 7 within 100 miles of Miami and 1 in Miami for Kymco Sym only has 5 though alliancepowersports.com/find_dealer/Sym has factory incentives right now that make their bikes quite affordable Kymco Like 200i's are always less than $3k...

Check the enrichener to be sure it is functioning. Sounds like the cold start mechanism isn't functioning. Are all the wires still hooked up to the carb... There is a thread around explaining how to check this...

You can correct me when you learn how to adjust your own valves. I have worked on a lot of bikes and though they are similar a wise mechanic opens a book with the proper specs no matter how many times they have worked on it, because similar and the same are far apart sometimes. You present yourself as authority repeatedly yet you have know real ability as is evident when you farm out simple operations on your own bike. You are arrogant when corrected admit you were wrong and move on. You were proposing modifications to the manufacturers specs the vagueness of your recommendations were potentially damaging. Be careful what you say people with less experience often take things at face value.

"Has little play" is a dangerously vague statement. Maybe you should just say to make sure it is within specification since you don't know what it is and have never owned one of these
