Welcome to the forum. If you haven't checked out the tech library yet, give it a browse. It has a wealth of information.

Tell the seller you won't go over $250. All it is worth is parts. If $250 is too low, just walk away.

Exterior looks good. What is the engine size and how does it run?
And does the current owner want to get rid of it quick, or doesn't care either way?

You lost me. Are you going to try and transport 800lb of Quartz on a scooter? Yeah, that's what it sounded like to me.... er, how I read it bcuz its too far to pedal his mtn bike to carry that much lizard poison to put into the water.... Don't know, but all that is a bit over my head... maybe there wuz already somthin stinky in the water. (and he drank some of it I think) Wonder why he would try finding a car tire for his scoot when I already said a car tire wouldn't fit on his bike. Looks like he found the create post button anyway by accident maybe. Hooo boy! a real live one. I was wondering about the car tire also. But I didn't want to appear to be mean.

Tao Tao is a typical Chinese scooter. I have a Tao Tao Powermax 150, and haven't had too many problems. It is also a very good platform for modifications.
PDI is a most. You will find loose nuts and bots. Check everyone before riding.
Be ready for parts to break. It's going to happen. But enjoy the repairs, it's a great way to learn about turning a wrench and small engines.

Without making it too complicated, did both stators match exactly? Besides the wiring plugs? Some have an different pole on it. The rewiring would be the next question. Without seeing it, it's hard to tell if it was wired correctly.

I agree with ramblinman. Drain your oil completely, then add 750ml of oil. If you still have problems you will know you have a bigger problem than a mere overfill.

Do you have an AC or DC system?
And when you replaced the stator was the replacement the same amount of poles as the old one?

Why a bigger carb? Have you tuned it to Ensure you have the correct sized jets for your setup?

I think taking the engine above 8000 RPMs is a little dangerous. I tuned my CVT to max out at 7500.
Yes your friend my slightly quicker than you, but he will be broken down much quicker.
Maybe instead of trying to match him with RPMs, install a BBK without telling him.

I agree with ramblinman, if you are 100% sure all fixes were installed properly a valve adjustment is required.

It could be just a roller out of place.
I would take it off, inspect and clean it. It should be okay.
