your engine code is located near the kick start (below) 157QMJ is the code of that engine. spark plug; i use NGK CR7HIX, you can go with CR7HSA if you want to save a few bucks. idle up solenoid; i had to search this. if you're having idle problems refer to alleyoop's carb tuning threads. itistheride.boards.net/thread/12/4ts-carb-tuningHey, nice! I never noticed that one. On my scoot, it is on the underside near the center stand. My scoot also has a plate riveted to the fan shroud that give the engine info.

Yes, GY6 is the engine. For the 150cc, there is a long case and a short case. Should be on the right hand side of the engine. It's hard to tell body style from those pics. Its easier to look at the overall bike. Regardless, the engine parts are pretty much the same.
If I were you, I would: drain any old gasoline that might still be in there and toss, change plug, change engine oil, change transmission oil, check air filter. MAYBE changed the drive belt (I would do this anyway, and store the old belt under the seat for backup), clean the carb(if fuel sat up in it, it could be clogged), change fuel lines, and adjust the valves (good idea to do this anyway). If you still have the round fuse, change the fuse to a bladed type fuse that they use in cars. Inspect the tires. A new battery is probably in order... get a battery tender (chromebattery.com has a $13 tender that I have been using) to keep it in shape when you are not riding the scooter.
Later on, examine your vacuum lines, and determine what kind of emissions that you have on your bike and if you might want to simplify things a bit ( I removed my EGR and evap system, not checked in my area, and it cleaned up the engine compartment nicely). Change brake fluid/bleed brakes.
That ought to get you cleaned up and ready to ride assuming everything else is okay on the scoot. I also installed a 12V accessory port to run 12V devices and to have easy charging access for my battery.
Remember that every rubber piece on your bike is 8 years old, and probably wasn't especially high quality to begin with.

First, Welcome to itistheride! Second, welcome to the world of chinese scooters! Engine parts are not a problem. Look at the number printed on the left side of your engine. There are only a few kinds of gy6 engines. Parts, for the most part, are compatible between them. That will take care of the parts you are looking for. Body Parts such as: frame, plastics, steering, wheels, etc, vary model to model. The best thing here is to go to all of the parts websites and start matching your scooter to others by looks. Recently, I was looking for a triple tree for my scoot, a 2013, and could not find an exact match. I found one that was close enough to work, but the Chinese sometimes produce one offs for each and every scooter model. In those cases, you have to use some good old Chinese-reengineering to make something work. Some scooters have a dozen or more model names under different manufacturers. You will have to get with Google and figure some of it out for yourself if you should need them. If you post a picture of your scooter, someone in the forum might recognize the general scooter-type. leikemotor.en.made-in-china.com/product/TbOmeswySEhK/China-EEC-Scooter-LK150T-7-.html&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=8hkbVYCnH9LZsAT12IGwAw&ved=0CAoQ_AUoBA&biw=1169&bih=724" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.google.com/search?q=lk150t-7&es_sm=&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=8hkbVYCnH9LZsAT12IGwAw&ved=0CAoQ_AUoBA&biw=1169&bih=724p.s. The oil filter is a little screen that come out that you clean when you change your oil! All gy6 scoots have the same spark plug. I am not sure what an idle-up solenoid is....

Ditto for me. No problem with the battery... the battery charger trips to maintenance in about 10 seconds. Maybe its a stator going bad or undersized for when everything is on? Should I put on a higher capacity stator?

I dont mean to sidetrack the discussion, but I noticed that my headlight dims when the brakes are applied as well. Is this typical?

As a youth, I could buy smoke bombs at about 6 for a dollar. These things put out a cloud of smoke!
I could tell lots of stories about my adventures with smoke bombs. Let's just say I had grown men believing that they were running to save their cars/trucks/work sights/lives/you name it. 15 to 30 seconds of smoke: 15 cents. Looks on peoples faces... priceless.
If I caught my kids doing something like that, they would be grounded for life.

If you have a compressor, that 1/2 inch 68424 is the bomb! I have one that I purchased to work on cars. It has 4.5/5 stars with 272 reviews for a reason.... it works well.
You would not believe some of the work I have done with one. I have had a few cheapies, but this one is worth keeping. Be sure, as with ALL air tools, to lube it before use.

"Those generic receivers are definitely worth researching. If somehow they slip through the cracks of the handgun/rifle parts controversy, they would be mighty handy for the home-builder or pro alike!
Certainly worth checking into!"
Having built a few firearms, it is perfectly legal to build a receiver for a handgun.
When receiving a pre-built receiver, I believe (i.e. I might be wrong on this...) you have to specify the purpose at the time you get it from the FFL. A handgun receiver can always be repurposed for a rifle, but never in reverse. And once a handgun receiver is used for a rifle ( be sure to put the barrel on FIRST, BEFORE THE STOCK, or you will temporarily have an SBR), it cannot be switched back.
When building from 80%, all of the same rules apply, though the BATFE will not know if you ever used your homebuilt receiver in a charger-like handgun before you used it for a rifle... or vice-versa. If that homebuilt is ever transferred through an FFL, it has to be declared one way or the other, and then follow the applicable laws.

if it overcomes the float bowl where does it go/leak out from? And what do i do with the vacuum lines get rid of the T part and just run a hose between the intake manifold and carb? and does anybody know where i can get a manual petcock from? Yes, just run a single vacuum hose to the carb. You can get vacuum line plugs at the auto parts store if you just want to plug the line that you removed from the vacuum operated petcock. You should still put in some kind of manual petcock to provide for fuel shutoff. You can purchase a manual petcock from Amazon/ebay/what have you. They start at about $8. The hardest part of this mod is finding a place to put the petcock so that you can turn off the fuel without removing a panel somewhere.

Just a question, and this seems like the right place:
Should I proactively replace my valve stems? I have had the scoot for three months, bought used. It has 450 miles now, and was manufactured in June 2013.

I went for it today... an extended 27 mile ride. Since I got the scooter in Dec, I had ridden 47 miles total, the longest being 6 miles (day before yesterday). Today I took it on a much longer route, through some nice twisty foothills of the N. Ga mountains ( I live near Dahlonega). The scooter will do something above 60mph in the flats (I stopped at 60 because the limit was 50), but mostly I stuck to 50 mph (which is fantastic through banked curves, BTW). I'm really happy with all of this... a cheap winter project and now a cheap thrill!

Well yesterday... went to the tax office and got my tag. I can now legally ride the scoot. Yay!
edit: got home tonight with 40 minutes of daylight and no rain. Learners permit says no riding at night, so I did a quick 6 mile roundtrip over to Lake Lanier and back. Yes!

Purchased insurance ($105 per year, Progressive), got the two documents necessary to register a motor scooter in GA (notarized affidavit of fact, certification of inspection by a LEO), filled it with its first tank of gas, practiced riding in in less than 20 foot circles out in front of the house (one of the dmv tests will involve pulling a u-turn in 20 foot radius). On Monday, I am going to register/get my tag and then I will be free to ride it legally on the road.

Hyperbole anyone?. You can buy a receiver or build a receiver from 80%, and then put it in a pistol stock. There is absolutely no way anyone is ever going to pay scalpers prices when you could get a better-than-Ruger quality receiver and put it in a pistol stock at FAR less than scalpers prices.

Craigslist Ethic: It's not sold until its sold. It's for sale to anybody until it's sold.
Too many people stand you up. No holding anything for anyone. The first one to offer sufficient cash gets the item.
As a seller, that is the presumption that I have always taken, and that is the presumption that most sellers have with buyers. If you want something, you be the first there/here with cash.
