My 150 seems to burn anything quite happily. I usually go name brand unless I'm desperate which happens sometimes with a 1 gallon tank.... My biggest complaint is I have to bend over to fill the damn thing (tank in the floor), It's the one thing I dislike about the 150.

Getting ready to upload video of the beast... don't mind the shop, it's a mess! It's amazing what one scooter teardown can do to your workspace... but hey, all the tools are put away, at least....

Just bought a set of mirrors for the 250. Anyone who has worked on or has owned a 150de or 250de (bali) style, knows those mirrors suck.... Brittle and cheesy... well, that issue will be fix soon. I also did a little experiment with that sheet carbon fiber decal stuff. I had a strip of it laying around and I found that with light stretching and strategic use of a heat gun, the results are pretty good. So I ordered some more from ebay when I bought the mirrors. Yeah, yeah, it's not real, but I wanna give my little chinese scoot some street racer creed.... Does anyone know just how hot the heat shield on the muffler gets? Do you all think some air brush work would hold up to the heat?

Well, got my "new to me" 250 home last night. Went to work, tearing it down today. The bike was only suppose to have a charging problem... well it seldom works out that way. This bike is a 250 touring scoot, a bali that my buddy bought at the beginning of the season. It wasn't a "bad" bike, but it never did seem to charge the battery but it ran pretty strong, and was quick for a 250. Well, he parked it, because of the charging problem. Then he had to move. So we fired it up, to take it to his new place, and it was leaking fuel... Figured the float was stuck, so we put it on a truck, rather then drive it. That was about 2 months ago. He then found a great deal on a 500cc Scarabeo. It needs a few things so he bought some parts. The rear brakes are worn out, and the rear rotor is chewed up, so I'll be doing a brake job for him in trade for the 250. Anyway, I pull the plastics this morning and decide to pull the carb to rebuild it. Found a couple of things... First, the intake manifold was full of fuel, so I'm like, I'm gonna check the oil and see what it looks like.... well, ummm.... I had a gusher of fuel out of the dip stick hole. I had to scramble for a drain pan.... All told, just from what came out of the dip stick hole, was about a quart of gasoline mixed with oil. Good thing I didn't try to crank it over.... Bad things would of happened.... So, I've pulled the spark plug, and tomorrow, I'm gonna drain the crank case and crank it over (without the plug) and blow out the combustion chamber. The next thing I noticed, someone bypassed the fuel petcock. This scoot has the tank under the seat soooo, the root of the problem... Some idiot, bypassed the petcock then when the needle went bad (or the float stuck), it filled the engine with raw fuel. I'm hoping that it didn't damage anything.... but we will see... At worse, a set of rings.... And I still have to figure out the charging issue.... I have put a new voltage reg in, and that didn't fix it. One of the shop guys where I buy most of my parts said, sometimes, it's a bad connection at the ignition switch.... I am hopping... I really don't want to change a stator on this thing, if I can help it. It's a messy job on a 250. Oh by the way, I've already mounted a new petcock going to plum it in tomorrow... this mess is not gonna happen again. All the plastics are coming off for paint. I wanted a winter project, and boy do I got one now... I've already spent about 150 bucks on this bike (I scored a brand new seat for it, bought some oil, a new plug, a battery tender and some other stuff.... It's gonna be a nice ride when it's done.... This bike was equipped with the remote starter, alarm and stereo... Stereo has never worked, (I wish it didn't have it, as if I take it out, I'm gonna have a nice hole in the dash, and inside knee panel, so I'll probably end up either fixing it, or replacing it just to fill the stupid holes. Oh well, I'm gonna shoot video of it tomorrow and get some paint. I need to some high temp black paint for the exhaust on it....

I was born in 1970 so I, of course don't. I think the closest thing to the loss of Kennedy for my generation, would be the Challenger disaster. I remember where I was, but it is so not the same. I also remember when Reagan was shot. Again, not the same.
My mother said, that her generation was very lost for a few years after the Kennedy assassination. She was born in 52, my father in 42.

They were both pretty ummm well wimpy.... I mean, goin on about "if I only had a heart" is not exactly macho. Then of course C3-PO didn't exactly have a macho walk-- it's kind of like asking which member of the village people was the most macho.

I'm pretty lucky, at work I don't have to worry about it... We have armed security (not mall cops, these guys are homeland security) and they all know who rides the red scoot scoot. If someone else was to ride it thru a check point... ummm well, they would be detained. At 7-eleven, it's parked where I can see it, by the front door, on the sidewalk... At home it's in the garage.
I really do need to get some locks for, but so far so good. It does have full coverage tho.... too bad the deductible is more then I paid for the bike.... (I bought it for 500 bucks)....
I hate that you have to lock up your stuff... I grew up where we left keys in our cars, and didn't worry about it... left the front door unlocked, walked three miles uphill both ways, in the snow... yada yada... Now get off my lawn.

If you get complacent to the point where you don't wear it for that 1 1/2 block ride to 7-11, what else are you getting complacent about? It's not just protection for going down, it's also a mindset.
Get a full face, and lift the visor at traffic lights... Noting worse then getting a bug splatting in your face at 45 or 50. You will get to the point where it just don't feel right to ride it without a helmet, to the point of it being uncomfortable. I'm that way with my gloves too. It could be 110 out, and I still wear them. I am lacking in the jacket department right now, but that's gonna change. I have good cold weather gear, I mean, I'm warm, but it doesn't offer the protection I should have as it's not armored.

For my money, I think Alley's right. It would explain the tach going nuts as well. As for impact wrenches, I have the one Alley put the link up to. It's bomb proof and will do everything you ask if to. It's the best purchase I've made, that and the impact sockets. Guys, for safety sake, use real impact sockets. Regular chrome plated one's can shatter and believe me, that's not a good thing. The only draw back, is it is a 110v model so, you can't run it off the battery. I just make sure I have good belts in my bikes, and if you change them at 3k or so (you can get more out of them, but do it 3k just to stay dependable) you shouldn't have a problem. Just don't use cheap belts. I use Gates in all my rides. And yes, I have shredded a cheap chinese belt before and it's not fun.

If it's an always on connection, why not get (if you have a battery tender), the adapter for a battery tender to cig ligter socket adapter? They are on amazon, pretty cheap.
