spandi, i'm not sure what's wrong with it. something in the engine let go when i was cruising at around 60mph. the bike immediately ground to a halt. i tried a couple of times to start it, but the engine wouldn't turn over, it was locked up. it was starting to get cold outside, so i covered it, and it sit there since. as much as i loved my ride, i was hesitant to put any more effort into keeping it road worthy. i wouldn't trade my chinese experience for anything, because i've learned a great deal about scooters from it. it's been 3 years and the weeds have gotten up into the frame and i'm not too confident that it would be worth it to get it back on the road. the local newspaper had a late model burgman advertised for 2 grand. it was sold before i even got the paper. i'll get another one, it's a matter of when. Well I hope you find a replacement soon, as you really seem to miss riding.

do you refer to your step through twist and go scooter as "my bike"? i remember needing some cooling help, and i rode out to some very rural junkyard on my 250. it was about a mile down a gravel rode, and i motored in there and ask them about some heater cores, i needed them for "my bike" they started asking questions so they could get a picture of what i had. it's a chinese 250 i told them. let's take a look they said. they looked it over and said that ain't a bike, it's a moped. but they did say it sounded pretty good coming up the road. i never got what i wanted. anyway, the thread is about your love for your "scoot", er moped. my baby, out back rusting it's guts out. i miss my chinese 250 so bad it hurts. Why is it out back? What's wrong with it?

What's the old saying? Win races on Sunday, sell cars (or motorcycles) on Monday.

Hi Hank. Didn't you used to have a Puma scoot that was stolen and replaced by an Aprilia?

Hate to say this, but on my scoot the body panels have to come off first then the light fixtures are unscrewed from the INSIDE. (Oh well good time to do upgrades and that PDI)

Yep. That's why the mods went for Vespa and Lambretta in such a big way.

One reason the market for the smaller bikes is so big is you have got to get your "L" plates first, and most ride a 125cc machine until they get their full motorcycle license.(and ride the larger cc bikes) Oh yeah, don't forget Sinnis (They're pretty big in the UK too.)

That's the trouble with all those evironmentally "friendly" vehicles, you have to plug them into polluting coal fired power plants to charge them. (And eventually despose of the batteries)

I'm going with William Frawley. Anyone who can deal with the antics of Lucy and Ethel and then handle a houseful of young guys (and keep a tight ship for Steve Douglas) has gotta be tough.
