Okay, it's a great song and all, but it's playing in every thread I open.... Perhaps you should fix it. It plays only on threads in this section/board, not any others. Also if one doesn't want to listen to the music just turn the volume on your computer off? Yesterday, no matter what sub-forum I was in, the song played in every thread I opened, but I seen your comment that it was only supposed to play in the general forum, so I thought I would let you know.... And yes, normally I would've just turned it down... But I had open a MP3 playlist and the Christmas song was screwing up my playlist.... Anyhow, I'm an Administrator at thespaceport.us and appreciate it when the users of the board help out and point something out if it's screwed up.... That's all I was doing was letting you know what was going on, not trying to be a downer about your song.

Hi all, I've seen some 4 valve heads available for the GY6.... has anyone tried them, do you have a scoot that came from the factory with this type of cylinder head? What are the pros/cons of a 4 valve vs 2 valve setup?

I enjoy the scenery.... I live in Michigan, out in the country where the seasons are in constant flux and it seems like no two rides are ever the same... The colors, smells, and fresh air rushing over me... It really is quite exhilarating!
That's what I enjoy the most.... In a car, sure, you can roll the window down, but it's just not the same.

Thanks D, appreciate the help : Your welcome! I had to edit my original post.... Missed you were talking about two items... You "may" and I use the term loosely here, have enough juice for the gloves at 2.2amps... If possible, put a volt meter on your scoot, then start pluging in DC items that you know how much electrical draw they use. for instance, a laptop may draw right around 2 amps, plug that in and see if your voltage goes below 13 volts (12 minimum)...

No. That is too many watts. That is 76.8 watts. edit: Missed your total wattage in your post... not proof reading I only read the 6.4 amps.... 104 watts is way too much....
As a general rule of thumb and only talking about GY6 stators, on average, 1 pole equals 10 watts. So, if you only have a 6 pole stator, roughly 60 watts... 8 pole, 80 watts etc etc....

There was another member on here recently that had a tach that wasn't working. Turned out to be the case that he had a broken wire. In a lot of scooters I have seen, the tachometer operates off a yellow wire with a black stripe.
Easiest way to "test" the wire is to run a jumper wire from the tach to the CDI.... If your tach starts working, I advise digging into your scoots wire harness and replace the original.
Your tach will also have a power wire, either red or black (chinese scoots use black as 12v+ on some circuits)....
If it's not a wqire, I would wager your tachometer has broken. If your tach is broke, you'll have to replace as repairing a tachometer is outside of the skillset of most on this board.
The tachometer gets it's pulse signal from the CDI to coil wire, if those were not working, your scoot wouldn't be running, so it has to be either a broken wire or a broken tach.
In short, check your tach wire, if the patch doesn't fix it, you should replace your tach.

Ok, can you explain that??? I thought the whole purpose of "upjetting" was to increase the air/fuel flow... Now, I realize there will be a limit to the amount you can increase a 24mm cvk, but until you reach that limit, how would a larger carb help?... I.E., If I did a bbk that brought the cc's up to 175, it would have a min/max of fuel/air it would use.. If my 24mm cvk was capable of delivering the required amount of fuel, how would a bigger carb help produce more HP?

I've been considering doing a BBK and I'm way out of my depth.... I'm pretty handy with a wrench and have a full shop of mechanics tools. I have been trying to learn the in's and out's and now I'm on to carburetors.
My scooters engine is currently stock. It's a GY6 150cc. I believe I have a 24mm cvk carb. It's one of those "tamper resistant" so I'm going to have bust out the easy-outs.... However, when (or I should say if) I do a BBK, I would like to use my existing carb if possible. It's a high quality Deni (standard of Japan) and no reason to get a bigger carb if I can use my current carb. Plus i'm trying to cut cost wherever I can as this upgrade is going to be expensive.
So, this is my question(s):
What is the largest cc you can use a 24mm cvk on and what size jets would you use?

The worst thing you can do is empty the gas tank, Yeah, I don't know why the manual calls for emptying the tank. In fact I'm going to edit my post to recommend against "emptying the tank". I always add just a wee bit of stable and fill the tank, Empty the float bowl and put the battery on the maintainer. That's the extent of my winter storage.

Hello, I think the reason no one directly answered you about the oil additive is because not that many people use something like that... A lot of folks use things like fuel Stabilizer for long term storage, but oil additive is new to me for what your wanting to use it for. My scooter manual has instructions for long term storage and advice on to "treat" the cylinder. Storage of the Vehicle Long-time storage: For vehicles that will be parked for longer then a month, the following items need to be performed. * Drain all fuel from carburetor and fuel tank. (I advise against emptying the tank)* Remove spark plug. Pour a tablespoon of clean engine oil into the cylinder. Using the kick start, turn the engine over 10-20 times to evenly distribute oil inside the cylinder.* Remove the battery and place on a trickle charger. * Wash the vehicle and wipe dry with a soft cloth. Wax the painted surfaces, and apply a film of anti-rust oil to the chrome surfaces. * Increase the tire pressure to the normal specification if low. * Cover the vehicle and store it in a well-ventilated, waterproof area. When removing from storage: * Clean the vehicle. Replace the engine oil if the vehicle has been sitting for more than 4 months. * Check the battery. Reinstall and verify all connections are secure. * Refill fuel tank. * Perform a visual inspection and check for leaks. Caution
Failure to keep the battery on a trickle charger during prolonged periods of storage will result in electric start problems.

Thank you, but a Zuma engine is not something I am, or plan on for that matter interested in.
This thread exist primarily because I am looking for "stock" figures of the GY6 150cc...
For example, These are numbers listed for a 150cc GY6 :
(157QMJ) Stock Stroke: 57.8mm (157QMJ) Stock Bore: 57.4mm (157QMJ) Stock Cylinder height: 69mm (89.5mm w/skirt)
Once I have these numbers, I will be able to plan any future upgrades to my scooter. I am fairly new to wrenching on these scooters and trying to find reliable information is hard. I am trying to self educate myself by discovery of information on the net and having those who have done such projects fill me in on if I'm getting the correct info or not....

Not sure if your actually looking at parts for your scooter. Samurai which i have seen on partsforscooters.com website i believe those are for a different engine. www.partsforscooters.com/169-214_63mm_Cylinder_Kit like this one this is for a Yamaha Zuma. Not GY6 150cc Yes, that was the Samurai BBK I was talking about.... I have a Bintelli Havoc 150cc GY6 that is a Yamaha Zuma clone, and thought Zuma's use a typical GY6 with EFI... I didn't realize how wrong I was till I just did some looking... I'm glad you pointed that out, I did not realize the engines were as different as they are. Copy that loud and clear! Yeah, I don't have any experience with Taida products yet, but they certainly get great reviews from all the people who have used their products!
