This is my first scooter, after having been a motorcyclist. (not counting 2 death-defying weeks on a 50cc that I had to drive on the only highway in the Keys)
I've never been a wheelie guy or much of a hill climber. I'm not a drag racer type, whether it's bikes or cars. What I enjoy are the turns. This is why I'd never put a car tire on my scooter. Car tires aren't designed to be ridden on their sidewalls.
I like to test my balance. I plow through sandy trails around here & fishtail my way through the deep stuff. I look forward to stop signs now, so that I can attempt to come to a complete stop without putting my feet down. I'll look pretty stupid if I ever fall down but at least I won't get hurt too badly.
What's the best part of your ride?

That feeling you get when you have powered down just enough to go WOT as you carve through a turn, I call it riding the wave, and I love that feeling!

My favorite feeling is looking down at the gauge cluster and seeing how far I've gone and how little the gas needle has moved. I have a motorcycle for most my long range riding but if I'm on the scooter its because we're doing something fun like going to the lake or getting donuts with the kiddos (my wife has a scooter too) So no bad times on the scooter for me. It's all fun!

I enjoy the feeling of acceleration, especially in and out of the turns, being pushed back in the seat, pushed down into the seat, looking at the world moving around me at a 45 degree angle, the wind in my hair if it's warm, the "suited up" feeling when it's cold, the little shot of adrenaline when it's wet and windy, the open air freedom of sitting on something instead of in it, and watching the road zip by beneath me as I cruise. Any trip on a bike is a good one because... it IS the ride.

I enjoy the scenery.... I live in Michigan, out in the country where the seasons are in constant flux and it seems like no two rides are ever the same... The colors, smells, and fresh air rushing over me... It really is quite exhilarating!
That's what I enjoy the most.... In a car, sure, you can roll the window down, but it's just not the same.

What's the best part of your ride? My most fun ride was hanging through the corners with a GSXR, a Ninja ZX12R and an Aprilia RSV4, plus some others that trailed behind; a Goldwing, a Yamaha V-Max cruiser, several dual sport bikes.... with me on my scooter!!! It was on a ride this summer in Michigan. Shamed the guys behind us and they were totally blown away that a scooter could ride like that with the sport bikes and leave the rest of them behind... even more so because the scooter was running a car tire on the rear!!! True, car tires are not meant to ride on their sidewalls, but they never get there even when being used on a bike. You may see video or pictures of a bike with a car tire on the rear, but what you don't see is that there IS tread lying flat and gripping the road even though the bike is leaned. I have used car tires on my scooters going on 7 years now. Normally, my scooters get more miles from touring than sport or local riding, so the longer lasting car tire makes sense. Good for gravel and dirt roads out in the scenic rural country side too and that is where the most pleasurable rides happen. I don't particularly care for in town riding, but have no trouble navigating through dense traffic. Highway riding is OK I suppose, but I would like to finish my Vetter streamliner Reflex for long, gas sipping cruises which have some appeal as well. Best part of MY ride? Just being out there on the road.... it's all good.

Wendy broke the hoe. She wanted a new one, one with a metal handle and not another with a wood handle that rots. Lowe's did not have a hoe with a metal handle. Ace did not have a hoe with a metal handle. Home Depot did not have a hoe with a metal handle. El Super did not have any hoes, but they have pastries 3 for a buck. OSH did have a hoe with a aluminum handle, and 15% off this weekend.. I love riding. I love Los Angeles where I can generally get anything I want. I love that the scooter can generally carry anything I want. And I especially love riding for gasoline under six cents a mile

howdy, since the thread seems to be going there, i remember. i remember picking plums nearby with another young fellow and riding the 125 yamaha to the orchard. during the day we needed to move to another location in the orchard so we saddled up both of us on the yamaha AND a twelve foot orchard ladder on each side and away we went for a half miles of so to the other end of the orchard. that must have been as good a sight as most of the ones you see in viet nam or india or wherever with half the family and the chickens on a small scooter.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken
