I cant say specifically for scooters but thats how I do it on four wheelers. I've got a gates belt coming to replace my cheapo belt and thats how I planned on doing it.

clean and oil your air filter too, mine was dry when I got it. look for loose vacuum lines or cracks in the ends too.

from what I've seen looking for stuff for mine you can find engine, electrical parts like that pretty easy but there's so many body styles that I've found nothing like that. I needed a new seat cover and floor mat. nada.

sounds like the drain from the head to bottom of the motor is clogged

or you can get a multimeter and test the solenoid also. apply 12 volts to the small wires while measuring the resistance across the 2 bolts, it should be close to 2 or 3 ohms. If that shows up ok you can pull your starter and check the brushes are good and armature contacts are clean.

yeah, got out the wrenches and locktight. apparently this thing came from the factory with a stripped bolt holding the front forks on!!

scooters are just so damn fun to ride. like a bike you dont have to pedal. motorcycles weigh too much imo, I even tried a ninja 250 and it was work to ride.

your muffler has rivets, drill them out and go to town on the guts of that thing then screw it back together.

maybe weld something onto it you can get ahold of with vice grips of that doesnt work.
