The area around the valve cover gasket is clean, head gasket area looks brand new, however the breather or vacuum line that connect to the top of the valve cover is full of oil and a run on the cover from where the hose is connected suggest it is coming from that breather hose. I think this means the O-ring is bad, the intake valve looks pretty dry from the intake hole, and fairly black, but operates fine, I haven't got the exhaust off yet. I am afraid I could have a crank seal issue too. I will replace the O-ring. This thing has spewed some oil since I've had it. The air-intake hose was not tightened down and non of the hose clamps had been fastened properly, one hose clamp on the fuel line isn't even the right one and is too big, it useless for the purpose it is supposed to suite. I think there are also some issues with the variator and clutch, certaintly makes quite a noise, maybe crank bearings and seals, it was vibrating a little more than usual at higher rpms. I need to get this thing further taken apart. I will need to take the engine off to put a new one on anyways, might as well get it off and see if I can't find a solution to the problem before making any major purchases. What happened : Power would come and go for a 120 miles of riding over multiple rides, oil would go a little low so I would change it, and then the oil would be black in about 200 miles, and have needed a fill or two. Started having very low power, thought maybe fuel pump was overheating or something because would run fine after a fillup and under half a tank it seemed to run bad, yet this was not always true. Started idling really high, running fine, maybe a little louder valve noise or something then at full throttle 45mph died or seemed to just die started back up and sounded like something inside was loose extremely doggy, no power. Currently have it open and looking at it, nothing obvious yet except the oil on the valve cover that has been happening for the last 1800 miles, I ride a lot. I will open the belt cover tomorrow, maybe something there could cause this. Is it worth tearing apart or should i just pickup another engine it has 4900 miles on it.

sounds like the drain from the head to bottom of the motor is clogged
