Hello all,
I'm looking for help diagnosing a problem on my 150cc GY6. The other day I was cruising along around 45-50mph when suddenly heard a popping sound and the everything just cut out. I turned off and tried to restart, the dash and lights came on but nothing cranked. The rear wheel still spins freely. The glass tube fuse connected to the battery is OK. I don't believe its the starter as I am familiar with that sound when it clicks. This sound has more of a whiny tone to it when the start button is depressed. What would cause the scoot to completely cut out like that? I'm guessing it is something electrical? Any help would be most appreciated

Since from what you say you squeeze the breaks and hit the start button you hear the whiny sound all that is working. Now when you do that is the starter actually turning the crank and the piston is going up and down. You can see if it is by looking at either your variator or the FAN on the flywheel to see if it is turning. But Check the spark plug it may have popped out and the whiny sound is no compression. A Video if it would help. Alleyoop
