I'm planning to go as deep into the winter as I possibly can here in southern NJ. I already feel the need to get my windshield installed and have been considering adding in a second power source just to run a heated jacket liner. Base layers help A LOT in cold weather and a balaclava will keep your face from getting windburned with cold air coming up into your helmet or through its ventilation. For now I've been a little nippy under my heavy riding jacket while my legs and hands generally stay nice and toasty and I rode in some 40 degree rain at night couple of days ago but aside from getting a little wet, I was mostly warm. I'm optimistic about being able to pull it off all year but I really dislike the cold lol. I just got this nice new action camera on the cheap and was planning to start a scooter vlog on YouTube. I guess we'll see what happens. I think we are riding in the same conditions , I have a huge windshield on the vespa . Snow boarding pants are amazing ($20) . Once we drop to the 30's then its the chinese scooter daily . I did this so I can power Gerbing heated gear . John

The kymco is just another scooter maker , I sold the kit to a guy with one and the magneto did not work because of where the magnet and pulse coil are mounted . When the man went back to his Kymco flywheel everything was golden .

Do these things work for the crankcase and the cylinder? look at the jug , the round cylinder sticking out needs to fit inside of the lower case . When referring to boring out an engine it means enlarging the hole that the topend and block meet , the topend/jug slip into the block . John

The connecting rod will be in the way if you do not remove the crank . The shavings get everywhere , if you were to do it free hand I would still split the case to clean out all the passages . John

looks like blow by , if the engine is running well let it slide . That is a tell tale sign that a top end rebuild is nearing .

Measure the bolt thickness they come 6 and 8mm do the conversion to the next size in inch . You don't have to use studs you can use bolts . I would suggest using the Oval gasket and snug it till it does not leak .

What kind of paint did you use , it looks like amazing . I would like to see how the coatings hold up in the heat from the engine . Did you use different paint on the engine shroud ?

Last year 0400 going to work. Truck was broke down for 3 months so i rode every day. Obviously not a scooter, but i must have had more wind on me. Actually had a lot of fun riding everyday. Only thing i missed was the feeling in my legs and hands...also that cup of coffee on the way into work...LOL Low 40's this morning , sometimes I just want that cup a Joe for the ride . I get that . I have not switched from the vespa to the Chinese yet , no need for the heated gear yet .
