Just finished my BBK and new head and cam install and thought I'd show some pre-install pics of what I'm doing. There is an A11 Cam in there and the Head has been hand ported and polished. And to get my carb up off the motor and to clear that engine mount hoop I had to install the riser and make a custom spacer. For the spacer I took 3 of the stock plastic spacers and fused them together in a vise then ported them to mach the intake port on the head.. The intake on the head is hand ported and matched to the intake on the carb. The cam I'm using was making the intake valve smack the piston valve well. So I had to shave off material from the piston to make it clear. Next is the compression test then install.

I LIKE it!Here's hoping it runs like it looks! What a "sleeper" it will be, with 232cc of whoopass residing under that mild turtledeck scooter body! If all is right, once you tweak the variator, rollers, exhaust, carb and rear-tire size to "optimum" I'm thinking maybe 80+ mph, and 0-60 like a pretty decent modern car! WOO-HOO!And DOUBLE-WOO-HOO!!!Keep that front wheel somewhere near the tarmac... Leo in Texas

You sure do got it shined up and looking good! Iv'e seen hi-rise intakes before, but wow! That's the first GY6 Tunnel Ram i've seen..... LOL It's amazing what a bucket of soapy water and some black spray paint can do. When I pulled it out it was a flippin mess. The prev owner (for some reason that is way beyond me) removed the valve cover vent and tried, very unsuccessfully, to plug the remaining hole with silicon. It didn't work. It leaked oil like no tomorrow, and I thought it was just the valve cover leaking. Where my body panels, are it's next to impossible to get a good look at the top of the valve cover. So consequently the entire lower and back part of the motor were covered in oily road grime. So I had to give it a bath as soon as it came out of the scoot. I hate working on something that is that filthy. I didn't have a spare valve cover laying around so I did the best I could. I stuck a vent hose in the hole and used some high temp gasket silicon to glue it in place. I'll be putting a new valve cover on it next month. Leo, I wish that was the 232cc motor I want. I'm building this one knowing it's just going to get pulled out and tossed to the side by spring. I'm doing the work on this motor just so I have some oomph for now until I build the motor I want. That's the great thing about these lil motors. Working on them is cheap enough that I don't mind putting $ into a motor I know I'm not going to use for long. I mean just the BBK and head was only 200 bucks from scrappy. My porting and what not is free, so I'n not out a whole bunch of money. Now the next motor will still use the high rise intake. Either way, you're right it does look kinda bad*ss. If everything goes together right I should have some vids soon.

I'm getting old...
I was thinking this motor was going to end up 232cc. Whatever the final displacement, it will STILL be plenty frisky anyway!
I really hope that tall intake works like I think it will. I've seen numerous variations on long intakes, most all with excellent results. Had I kept my 150, that was going to be my next mod... to raise the carb, turn it "forward" for access without removing the plastics... and to get it away from that stupid cat-back mount which pretty much thwarts most all attempts at installing a decent air-filter on the carb... LOL!
I really like the red clutch, and the red cooling-fan shroud in the background, too. Little things REALLY make the difference in the "whole package"!
One of the most enjoyable aspects of modding a modern scooter is that it's a little reminiscent of building choppers back in my day. It's at least "modestly" affordable, but yields a bike you can REALLY be proud to pull up on, AND be more fun to ride!
Stay safe!

Got it running yesterday and I'm happy to say it runs great. Still have a little tuning to do but it ran good enough to do a one hour break in on the stand. Here she is all dressed up and ready for the prom. Wow that new cam hits hard! The only problem I'm having now is once the engine was mounted back in the bike, the cross brace angle changed and now I can't get an air cleaner on the carb. An additional space should be here via fed ex today. The carb needs to come up an additional 1.5 inches.

Road tests showed me I was running lean The stock pilot jet and stock main jet are too small. I had to go with a 130 main jet and am ordering a 42 and 44 pilot. In the mean time I was able to get the popping at deceleration to stop by making it idle rich via the idle air/fuel mixture screw. I had 12 gram rollers in the stock configuration but knew I wanted this engine to run at higher RPMS, so I put in 10 gram rollers. I now have to be careful when running WOT because it will go over 8500 RPMS. It's cruising at 6500 at 45 mph, right in the sweat spot. I'm going to put in 11 gram weights when I go to the shorter tires.

way cool now get us a vid of it running This short vid really doesn't do it justice. It's much deeper in person. The mic on my phone isn't the best at picking up deep tones. If you are standing next to it it shakes your chest when you hit the gas.

What kind of paint did you use , it looks like amazing . I would like to see how the coatings hold up in the heat from the engine . Did you use different paint on the engine shroud ?
