Oversized PVC air scoop. Looks kind of ugly but it will be replaced with a smaller one. Sure does work, though. Attachments:

Around here I get occasional waves and horn taps from other scooter riders, but rarely from conventional motorcycle riders. They don't show any hostility, but we just kind of co exist.

My current scoot is loud, but not Boeing 757 loud. But my first scooter I ever had (Tank Urban 50) had the muffler break off the header, and I never replaced it. That thing was as loud as a WWII airplane!

Thanks for the info. I'll leave it clean and unlubricated.

What parts of the variator should be lubed, and what parts shouldnt? I know the pully faces shouldn't be lubed.

Ever since I installed my homemade air scoop, I've heard a whining noise coming from the fan. It actually sounds like a little turbo charger!

My apartment manager just sad I could only keep my good scooter in the parking lot. He said I have to get rid of the scooter I'm rebuilding! I'm gonna have to keep it at a friends house while I rebuild the engine in my living room. I hate living in an apartment.

As soon as I can afford the parts, I think I'm gonna go all out with an 80cc big bore and stroker, plus all the other performance goodies

Is it necessary to modify the crankcase to install a stroker crank in a 139qmb engine? If so, what has to be done?

I stripped down the top end, end everything looks fine, except there is a tiny bit of play in the rod bearing. Its less then a mm of side to side movement. Should I be concerned about that? Also, are there any options for repairing the stripped spark plug hole without having to replace the whole head? Also, I was amazed at how simple it was to take apart the whole top end. I feel more confident about putting a bbk on my TaoTao.

It is a mess! The previous owner crashed it several times and tried to work on it without knowing what he was doing. Bolts are stripped or missing, wires are hanging everywhere, and the spark plug hole is stripped. One of the exhaust studs is broken off and there is no front brake. I still think I'm gonna rebuild it, simply to get the experiance. Its a 2010 Daxi (sunny style body) with 3800 km on it.
