So, my scooter is pretty loud. Looks like factory exaust. But with the open air filter its pretty loud, like chain saw loud. Had a Yamaha C3, it sounded like a vacume cleaner. But that's because I never modded it!
Vote! And post up!

A lot of the time when I come home from running errands my mother freaks out and is all "oh my god, Garit! What happened to the scooter? Is everything okay? How far did you have to walk?" and I have to reassure her that everything is fine because the scooter is just so quiet. She jumps to the conclusion that I had to walk home because she can't hear the scooter in the driveway, even with the door open.
I'm hoping to fix that with the exhaust I ordered. The air filter changed the sound, but it's not much louder than before...

I run a straight pipe with an expansion chamber. A large can of angry mutant wasps follow me everywhere. Children cry when it revs and people roll up their windows when I go by. Its loud very loud.

I've got a genuine "oxymoron" here... Like "jumbo shrimp" or "government intelligence"... LOL! I have a "quiet straight-pipe"!I just finished this mod to replace my rotten 5-year-old factory muff. It appears to be an aftermarket exhaust for a GY6 50cc. No brand-identity on it, and I got it years ago, found under the cushions of a couch in a charity junk-furniture store. The expansion/contraction chamber and head-pipe are stainless-steel, and the little "stinger" muffler is extruded aluminum. The entire system is WIDE-OPEN, STRAIGHT-THROUGH with not a single baffle anywhere. I thought it might be a little loud, but amazingly, it's QUIETER than a stocker at idle, and only barks a little at WOT. My guess is that the large expansion chamber dissipates most of the velocity of the exhaust, and only a token "puff" goes through the little after-muffler which is a straight-thru glass-pack. I did a post on the fabrication of the header and system, and as I said in there: "... it's quiet as a mouse, and runs like a bear!"The engine, slightly rich-jetted, LOVES this little pooter. Only extended riding will tell whether it's good for the long-haul, but as it sits right now, I'm really happy with the great performance, AND super-quiet sound-level... Leo (ridin' quiet) in Texas

My current scoot is loud, but not Boeing 757 loud. But my first scooter I ever had (Tank Urban 50) had the muffler break off the header, and I never replaced it. That thing was as loud as a WWII airplane!

So I took the top end off my muffler to see if my bike would quit vrapp or burping. So far it seems to work. I belive the baffel was causeing too much back pressure with the open air filter. Now its just the straight pipe, runs much better. Ill see the full results tomoro on my way to work.
Now it sounds like a Harley when I crank it! ;D

I hope you installed a larger main jet so you do not burn it up by being too lean . A buddy broke off his exhaust and rode it 3 months without rejetting and the exhaust valve tip melted off and ate up the piston and cylinder .
A buddy drilled two holes in the muffler and airbox along with upjetting and it had a great deep tone .
My Echarm is so quiet I can sneak up on people . In heavy traffic I had a guy yell out asking if it was electric as so many cars drowned out my exhaust sound . I took of the muffler and rode around the block was amazing how much louder it was .
My 2T had a good sound but not annoyingly loud . It now has a BBK , Uni and open exhaust that is so loud I set off car alarms and has made my ears rings . It echoes off of large trucks and buildings . I will have to get a more friendly pipe later .
There used to be a video on You Tube that a guy gutted the baffling and sawed of the nozzle tip and welded on larger tip after welding the muffler back together but it has been removed

Where's the "currently not running, so silent as a churchmouse" option?
