I am installing an e-ton 49cc 2cycle engine on a Peirspeed X/S. I believe it's early 2000 model. the wiring plugs for the cdi have been cut off . put the X/S stator on the e-ton engine.

This new law doesn't go into affect till 2015. If you try to go to the BMV early to get it done now, you will not get anything done. The State doesn't have the paper work to get anything done yet. What you need to do before 2015. Locate your certificate of origin. Update your Indiana State ID card. Start saving money to buy a scoot for your better half. ;-)

read all of this first before you get started you might want to put some of those screws back in. If it's a VIP after you remove the seat and bucket together. you remove the rack from the rear then you pull up on the front panel that is bowed that seat bucket was attached to that had the 1 big Phillips head screw. it is clicked in about 4 or 5 places into the floor board. push the whole rear body assembly back about 1 inch back and lift away from the scooter. it might be a little tight due to wiring on the right side, and the rear fender fits up under the side panels by tail light that is why you have to slide it back and lift. if you take it off in 1 piece it is easier to control and you shouldn't break any plastic. reassemble in reverse sliding over top of tail light make sure lock trigger is in place and works. then tucking fender back up into body panels then click front panel to floor board. re- install seat assembly you should be good to go.

It is probably a loose pin in a connection block close to your headlight. And your instrument cluster is getting its power from there. If it was a short it would blow your fuse in your battery box. Then no lights would work and your electric start wouldn't function or your horn.

It makes it easier to turn the motor over, when you are lining your cam gear at top dead center. Also it won't be able to start. You know safety first!

You take the seat bucket out. Remove the rear rack. Take the rear body panels and the plastic bowed panel that the seat sits on, take it off all together. You may have to pull the sides out a little, to clear the wiring and components zip tied to it. The tank needs to be empty. Undo the big but with a crescent wrench. You may have to hold the part with a pair of pliers while you do this. When you get it undone, pull down there may be an internal filter, its plastic held in the part with the help of a o-ring it's supposed to be white . Install your new part, it should be sealed by a rubber washer inside the big nut. Hook your hose's up. Put in about a quart of gas in the tank. You can now try to start your scooter. Check for leaks now before you reassemble the body. It will probably take about 2hrs, take your time put every thing back the way it came off. Good luck!

You can gently pry the caliper apart with a medium size flat screwdriver. If it has two pistons collapse both. When you squeeze the brake lever it will snug up to the rotor after 3-4 squeezes. If the caliper is sticking and not letting the wheel spin freely. You need to take the caliper apart, and clean it. Remove it from the scooter make sure the fluid has drained from it. Blow air from a compressor into the caliper, through the brake bleeder hole. Be very CAUTIOUS it will shoot the pistons out like rockets. Feather the trigger on the blow gun. If you're not sure. Hold the caliper down in an empty 5 gal. bucket. Point it away from you. When you pop the pistons out check for worn or defective surfaces, check the O-rings in the caliper. If the piston's look tarnished on the outside where they travel in the caliper, lightly buff them shiny with a green scratchy pad. Apply clean brake fluid on O-ring,s in the caliper cup,s and reinsert the piston's back into the caliper. Attach caliper back on the scooter bleed the brakes you should be good to go.

Have you tried a fuel stabilizer. When the system gets cold the moisture freezes, and it's like receiving fuel thru a slushie. It can also mess with your fuel control valve between your tank and filter and rupture it. I use Startron, 1 8oz. bottle will treat 124 gallons. At a cap full a tank. It goes along way. Plus it eventually treats your entire system, and moisture puts a wooping on them. Fill your tank when its low. Topping of your tank creates more moisture. It would be different if you had a larger horse power motor. But with the ethanol blended fuel, you have to deal with and concour it! Premium fuel is a must. Fuel system cleaners that smell like alcohol or paint thinner is a no no! It will break down your rubber part's the one's you're trying to protect. It will dissolve them, and then you're trying to burn that thru your carburetor! It will also make your float fall off your fuel tank sending unit, and it's a pain to correct it properly. I have even seen people use those clear moisture control chips. And it will take a lot of time, and cleaning to solve this problem. Then you have to look at them while they lie their butt off. They even blame you, because they wouldn't something like that. It's a lot easier to get it fixed right the first time. Pay attention to what advice the mechanic tells you. He does not want to keep working on the same scooter over and over. There are other scooters waiting line for his help. Plus he appreciates a slow day some times.

The problem here in Southwestern IN is they don't teach kid's traffic safety the way they did 30 yrs. ago. Now you walk against the flow of traffic for safety. So kids being smarter than adults, take it upon themselves to ride their bikes in the same fashion. When they go to highschool they don't teach drivers training anymore. Only the well to do can afford to pay for it themselves. So if they can start riding a moped at 15 all that is required a helmet and registration sticker, and they don't have to wait till they are 18 to get a operator license without drivers training. I learned at a young age things break, and it is very costly to fix or replace them. Kid's don't think that way any more . They think they are mini adults. They don't care how long you have been here,or what you had to do without to get as far as you have in life. It's a mess out there and when someone tries to fix it, someone else just want's to get rid of it altogether. I personally new the man who fought to get mopeds back in Indiana. He is most likely gone by now it's been 30+yrs. Back then his scooters came from Europe. I don't know if anyone remembers Gary's MoPed Center or Batavus Mid-America. A lot has changed since then. Any how the update is if they can pull you over for anything, Evanspatch Indiana they will. My scooter is 2 yrs. old and it only has 265 kilometers on it. Scooter theft is bad here, and I don't ride it much because I don't want to get pulled over for a light out. Or even worse going 28 mph. and not 25. Here if they tow your scoot they will damage it one way or another and it is expensive to get it out of impound. Here all scooter's are sold to someone in Louisville Ky. so the parts can not be reused, or the scoots rebuilt. I have not heard how things went in the capitol this week. When I find out l'll let you know. :-)

Meanwhile back at the Statehouse they have been working on a bill in Indy that is acceptable to everyone . It will not be voted on till may, in the city here in E'ville has been having petition signings for and against scooters since November. There goal is to make it an inconvience to ride. Here we ride even when its below freezing. This makes the forth year they have been working at it.
