howdy, yup and lol about the windshields. I bought my first new mc in the spring of '72 and on the inaugural ride about 200 miles from home a yellow jacket came inside my helmet to visit and I musta thrown that helmet a half mile or so. when I got back home after the weekend, I took that thing back to the dealer and said as how I didn't want to see it again till it had a fairing installed. all my new and most of the used since then have had a fairing or shield not for looks but for comfort/safety. might as well be comfortable having fun?

howdy, I use Conoco/76 because they don't buy fuel from the middle east. that is if I got it correct.

howdy, i'd go for it. the vespa will give ya lots of miles and when needing overhaul, it is designed to be re-built and ridden some more.

howdy, yup, they sent us home from school on the bus. I remember that kennedy encouraged student health by recommending schoolagers to walk 50 miles in a day. it was 50 miles from the river bridge in prosser, washington to the city line of union gap, Washington. think how it would go over if mrs Obama suggested that instead of limiting calories served at lunch. we do live in a different world.

howdy there , interesting discussion of concussion. like others here I went down at 10 mph or so and have scrape marks on my full face helmet to prove it. I remember the side of the helmet hitting the pavement and that would have been my head. I doubt that would have been without injury. anyway, I also, like oldchopperguy, remember having a mg midget and feeling somewhat vulnerable with feeling so low that the brown stripe on the center of the lane might not be oil---lol. I went on a 360 tour of a snow covered corner with the top down and my skis riding mostly outside cause there was no room in there with the top up. how do we live to get so old and grey?

howdy, well since i'm here-----actually I ride mine occasionally through the winter. where I was in Washington it was desert so not much snow just brrrr sometimes so I rode the scoot a couple times a month on the warm days. that is one reason I would not favor the drain it and let it sit for the winter cause there are lone days through the winter where if you can resist the urge to ride, you're a better man than I. if everything is drained and the battery out , how do you get it all together to ride when it gets warm on those occasional days? secondly on the issue of seals, I don't worry about the engine seals for the most part, it is the rear end seals and bearing seals on the axle that I worry about as much. that is from experience with cars and pick-ups so may be a silly worry on a scooter. when you leave a pick-up or truck sit, the axle seal will stick to the axle and rip the first time you use it after ward. by the way on those vehicles the brake slave cylinders can also dry out and begin to leak when used after a long sit. anyway , for what it is worth.

howdy and thanks for the responses. it seems like, as someone said, that the original shop should eat some of the cost for removing the wheel to balance since nothing was mentioned to me about their charge being minus the balancing. but I do not think they will go for that. to those that suggested ways to balance it AFTER being removed that is fine if unlike me you can remove the wheel yourself. I can physically hardly even check the pressure much less remove the wheel. I hope you never get to this condition. I removed the extra weights and added some to the opposite side of the wheel which helped. I put a small weight on one side of the wheel which helped so I put another on the other side which helped so I put another nearby and it became worse so I removed one of those and put another on the other side of the original. now will try it and see whether it is worse or better. maybe I can get lucky and get it close enough for the girls I go with. again , thanks and lotsa miles and smiles to ya

howdy, I had a flat on the 150 14 rear tire. just a screw through the center of the tread with what should be repairable by a glue on patch inside. but no0one will repair them so I had the shop put on a new one and they did not balance it. it vibrated terrible coming home so I removed all the weights the shop had not bothered to remove. that helped so I stuck a couple weights opposite where the old ones came off and that helped but anything over 65 is not smooth. what to do? it would cost nearly a hundred dollars now to have it balanced by removal and such. can I use dyna beads? or other suggestions?

howdy, I want to also remember with fondness all those who have served and passed on such as our parents and uncles and such. I now appreciate much more than when I was young, some of the adaptations they made in order to serve and return to society as functional as possible.

howdy, I just had my second service on the bv350 at 7700 miles and the mechanic just removed the air filter and looked at it and put it back. so I don't know what the experience is but the manual calls for washing(cleaning) it. the mech was in a hurry so he didn't do more than I required. not good.
