This felt to me like it could have been super dangerous if there were cars behind me. I was going uphill on an 35mph overpass, but the slope wasn't very slanted at all and I wasn't struggling very much at all either.
So all of a sudden I'm going up and my scoot just sounds like its struggling and dies like it is out of gas or power. There were no places to stop on the side except for grass, and had to push my bike off the road onto the grass then push the bike up the hill on it to the gas station which was at the very top. Prior to this I could not get it to turn or even sound like it was turning. The electric start had a less powerful noise and sounded different and weaker.
So I am now very embaressed pushing my moped up the hill out of breath and my heart is pumping. The gas station clerk asked me if I was alright. Again I try to put in gas and it spits out again, don't know how much of the $1.01 actually went into the tank. So after I put in gas this did not fix the problem that I thought it was in. I parked it in the shade and tried again several times, then tried kick start which did absolutely nothing. I looked around for the oil stick and couldn't find it anywhere, omg where the is it on this thing? Anyway I thought it might be out of oil, but there was no oil light.
I waited for a few more minutes then tried again and she started up, I then put her on kickstand and she died out, then started her again and gave it a brief amount of gas and let her idle for a minute. All of a sudden it seemed fine and I drove her out a mile to walmart, did my business there and then drove a mile back home.
I had a similar problem over a week ago, only it happened in my garage while trying to warm it up, and dont know what it is and dont know anything about scoots so im clueless.

Haven't got a chance to ride at night yet, cause I only have a permit and have to wait till I can take my road test.
What's it like to ride at night? Scary, fun? A lot of the moped accidents that happen here at mostly at night.
Also my lights are light dim yellow, can I change them out to a different white bulb or should I convert to HID? I'm guessing it will drain more power from the battery/gas?

I used to live in Sacramento and could barely handle 30-40 temps, but I know people who live in those kinds of temps for most of their lives adapt to it as normal. I once met a guy who went out in the snow freezing temp in his long johns and would barbecue. p)

Nice deal. Curious to know if there is a limit to how many you can sell in a year if your not a dealer. Is it the same as cars?

I just never could understand the need for music on a bike. I also really have no use for other peoples noise getting to me in my space. I usually really do not like the stuff they consider music. When somebody pulls up and is rattling my ear drums, it makes me want to do something that would be just as upsetting to them. For my personal taste and concerns, I agree in some ways. Although I like listening to music in a car, I think it would be distracting for me in many ways on a bike. For example; tinkering around to change the song, station, or volume. Music also can play a part in a person's mood. On the upside if it get's the attention of other motorists, then at least you will be noticed. Till this day I've never seen or heard someone on a moped or motorcycle that had a sound system in person. $45 for a set up sounds like a good deal though, and if your enjoying it and it does not disrupt your riding, then I don't see why not. It's just not for everyone I guess.

Mine is a Tour Master Intake Air 2, I think the Intake Air 3 is the current model. But if you can't find that model, just go to a big store and try on a bunch of different ones, sooner or later you will find one of those on closeout online. Tour Master Intake Jackets are generally small so look at the sizing chart and buy one size bigger than recommended or find a store to try them out. thanks

I have a couple armor jackets. I bought the Xelement from leather up for $50 and it was ok. It was protective but not super comfortable and decent for hot weather. It is certainly worth $50. But I went into a local motorcycle store and tried on some of the spendy ones. I liked a Tour Master, it was a great jacket but it was around $250. Great armor, soft other padding, great fit, zip in and out rain AND insulated liners so it was all season. Still did not want to spend $250. Did a google search on the Tour Master and the jacket model (can't remember) and a bunch of ads came back for closing out the last years model. The color choices were limited, and so were sizes, and the exterior pattern was a little different but basically the same jacket for $80 shipped. Awesome jacket, great deal. It has armor on the spine where the Xelement has terribly cheap foam, and it has extra padding patches where the Xelement has none. The shoulder and elbow armor pads in both are level three and feel about the same to be honest, but the Tour Master is a FAR better jacket for the extra $30. I would not tell somebody to skip out on buying an Xelement over nothing, but the extra money for a closeout was worth every penny. If you try on a couple of the spendy name brands ones for fit and to see what you like, you can still get one cheap if you look around and get really good quality for not that much more than the ones on Leather Up. So many motorcycle gear closeout places online it is silly. thanks for the info, could you tell us what series the jacket is, cause when I googled Tour Master jacket I came up with a lot of different models.

as for the brake disc lock, I saw a xena in craigslist for $20 off the new price. It's in like new condition xx6, but prior I read some reviews that abus makes better ones, and when I read some of the amazon reviews for the xena ones, some say the alarm on the thing keeps going off and they have to open it up to get to the battery. Someone said they owned one, any probs like this?

heres some pics i took earlier today. thing looks a little big. i guess it looks alright, still I'll take this sucker off when I don't need it. Today I had my lock and chain in it, x2 2liter bottles of pepsi and some food from taco bell. I sat the food one top and worried it might get crushed, but it was all fine when I took it out.

When I was looking for a used scooter there was always some poor guy posting about his stolen moped. A few I remember; guy got his stolen at a k-mart. Security footage showed a man lifting it into his van. Ive had 1 car stolen and one broken into that ended up in a knife chase. Both cars had no alarm, I learned my lesson, and every vehicle after had an alarm. When I was living in the Philippines known as one of the dangerous countries I never had it stolen but there were 2 times I saw vague signs of attempts. Dont matter which part of the world u live in, and ive lived in different parts, ive learned to prepare for the unexpected.

Yeah, I had a premium account with photobucket before I think it was $19.99 or $29.99 a year. I used it for a business I was running about 4 years ago. I would have 100,000 hits on each of the pictures displaying the product image daily, so when the premium account expired there was all these product images that read bandwidth exceeded. I'm not sure about all the other options available now, but would not use them in the future if they are not the cheapest around. I just use imageshack.us now for regular picture hosting.

Looking for some good brands and types for future shopping reference, so would like to know what some of my fellow motorists are currently using, and/or wish they had.
my current protection:
stock alarm (no pager) chain and diskus padlock
what I want to upgrade to;
brake disc lock with alarm chain w/ u lock/alarm alarm w/ 2-way pager
Currently I'm using a short chain (didn't measure it) but on the one hand, it means less options/objects to chain onto.
I want as many alarms to go off as possible to deter a potential thief and also 2-3 alarms all going off at once versus only 1 alarm going off I bet will get some looks from people near by. so a lock that latches onto a chain easily that also has an alarm, like bully lock or something. The padlock I use is so short it takes an extra x amount of time to get both chain ends in the loop.
Then I want the brake disc lock with alarm so that they would have a harder time trying to move it.
I'm only worried about my bike when I take it out and park it without it chained, if there is no place to chain it to. When it's at home its locked up inside and secure, not outside.

So I got my EMGO trunk in the mail today. Am disappointed in many ways. I couldn't get the bracket to hold more than two bolts, and had to improvise and play around to get one on each side, so it's not 100% sturdy because of that. It's all black murdered out just like my bike.
It looks ok from the back and side view, but I so much like it better off the bike. Even with the bracket on, and i remove just the trunk, the bracket alone still makes it look tackier. When I look at it, it looks as if I turned it into a pizza delivery scoot, or like seeing someone dressed real thuggish, but is wearing a pink bracelet. So I am disappointed with the way it looks on the bike. Then again I've seen similar trunks or half shell trunks on really nice motorcycles and thought it made it look less hard.
The inside looks smaller than it did in the pictures. I haven't taken my bike out yet, but took out the chain and lock from my seat trunk which I have a hard time closing after opening it and slapped it in the trunk for now.
The only good advantages Ive seen from this so far is that it's detachable from the bracket, and can lug the trunk around cause it has a handle or leave it home when your not going to use it, and of course being able to carry more load.
There are only so many options available though, and agree with the other poster that even if most don't look good or make your bike look less hard, it still comes in handy and should serve it's purpose. Maybe i'll post a pic of it later, but it's night right now.

If it was running fine before, you are probably out of gas. 60 miles on a tank of gas is pretty good assuming you have a half gallon tank like most (mine takes $2 to fill up). mine is actually a 1.4 gallon tank. when I first put in gas (didn't even know how much gas was in it to begin with) It took $2.58 before i topped off. Gas here is just a little over $4 per gallon ($4.04-$4.31).
