Just bought a new battery, after having mine failed on me after 6 months, I assume because; I haven't been charging it.
Amp Rating 8 Ah @ 10 Hrs Battery Voltage 12 Volts DC CCA Rating 120 CCA
electrolyte / dry charge
I don't ride it for long periods, just short trips of 10-15 min / day, of actual driving time, and, about 4-5 days of use in a week. Not including the 5+ minutes I let it warm up before I drive.
My questions is;
How often should I be charging the battery, since It does not get much use, and for how many hours should I charge it? Can I, or can I NOT, charge the battery while the battery is still connected to the scooter? What type/brand/features/model, charger should I buy (or stay away from), in the $20-$40 range?
Thanks.

bought a 2 stroke 50cc upgraded to 100cc .oil tank is gone, so gas and oil in the tank. Ive read that premixing the gas and oil should be done in a 1 gallon gas can, but also read some say its safe to just mix it up in the tank while filling up at the gas station. If I put 3.5oz of 2 stroke oil in a near empty tank, then add gas from the pump, is it safe? Is there a correct way to do it? Like add a little gas, then a little oil, and repeat?

After the boards went down for a lil while, at least for me, I decided to mess around with the oil tank. I noticed that the sensor thing was very loose, and couldnt get it back on tight. When I pulled it out i noticed it had like a floater on it, im guessing all similar to a fuel sensor thing. Noticed it was positioned at the bottom, so i positioned it back to the top, then turn the key to the on position, and red light as well as sound was gone. Sorry the sound happens at the same time with the red light. Its like a electrical beep. It always happens if im running low on oil, its a loud and annoying sound. Did I solve the problem or did I just mask a problem? Also do you think it would be a good idea to try and seal up that sensor. I am also losing oil that way. If so any recommendations of what to use? Thanks for the help.

2 stroke rode it this morning to work and had it parked for about 3 hours. On my way it was fine, cept the idling problem i been having for the past week. Won't stay idle when stopped unless given a little gas. Anyway when i started it up about 15 seconds later the oil light and the annoying sound came on. I just put in oil a few days ago, re-checked and its % full. Rode it like this all the way home about 30min. When I got home I topped it off and its still doing it. Should i ignore it? Try to disable the sound? If so, how would I go about doing it? Or do I need to take it to a shop? Think it would be safe to drive it to a shop to check out the problem? Its about an hour drive to the mechanic i took it to last time. 30min drive to a different one. Would cost $50 for pick up.

I spent some time taking a part my bike today. It was raining mid way through so i had to stop. I havent tried to start her at all, except for in the morning when i woke up before i started taking the bike apart, and by the end of the day I didn't accomplish much except knowing that the belt wasn't the problem.
I opened up the air filter, and immediately oil starting spilling out. It was brownish color. Took the filter out and it was semi soaked in it. i took the whole thing off and washed it casing and all, although I been having a hard time putting it back on to the pipe it was connected to, spent about 20min trying to do it, but just couldn't get a fit, then it started getting dark so i stopped.
I checked the belt also and it looks fine.I wouldn't think cleaning out the air filter would solve the problem, and I havent put the parts back on yet. I read on another site that oil in the air filter could be a carb problem?
Any suggestions on what else I should start diagnosing, or should I just have it taken to a mechanic?

THE PROBLEM:
2-Stroke moped 50cc jonway Small oil leak Oil light and sound was on. Checked oil near gone, but still had a good amount in the tank. After a 2-hour ride, died out while stopped near my house. Made loud screeching/chopping sound when I tried to start Finally started after I kind of forced the gas but sound was loud and could hear it through my helmet. It jerked a couple times, then sounded normal as usual, but died out again after 1 block Won't start or turn, only hear 1 click from the back of the bike when I hit starter
I probably did this to myself with improper maintenance. I like to do everything DYI, to save money, so i borrowed some tools, tried to do oil changes in the beginning, but for the gear oil, one of the bolts was too small, it was like it was in between sizes either that or stripped, so i just tipped the bike and let the oil drain.
As for the two-stroke oil i just kept refilling it. I didnt know where to bleed the old oil, and I been doing that since I got it. A few months ago it started leaking oil, and needed oil more frequently. I knew it was bad, and that I should have found where to bleed it, but I just kept avoiding it.
Local shops charge around 60+ per hour, plus they would need to tow it is prob 30 to tow. Complete tune ups here cost around $200. I figure when the thing is fixed I might as well buy another moped with those prices.
I know its not cool to avoid proper maintenance and then ask for help, but I need to know where to start on DYI repair. Thanks.

Typing this on my mobile so sorry for any grammar. Its been bugging me that sometimes the traffic light wont change for my scooter, and wondering why. Is there some kind of detectors and its not picking up my ride. I once waited 5min. Sometimes I have to wait till a car pull s up behind me just for the light to turn green what's up with that?

Wow, didnt know that about helmets. I just read about the foam, and am more bummed now. Don't have insurance, hawaii doesn't require it for under 50cc. Woke up today with my body all sore. Last night parts of my body that didn't hurt was hurting as well. I wanted a new pair of mirrors anyway, cause they had blue plastic body which i ripped off cause my moped is black. I don't wanna spend money on another helmet though , is there something i can do to inspect the foam to see if its alright?

I had to go to the post office today, then on my way to the store i was making a right turn. It was raining a little, and the ground was wet. I slowed down before the turn, then in a second my bike slid before I knew it I hit the ground and my head bounced a few times as well as my body bounced and rolled until I was flat on my back. I tried to get up but couldn't at the moment cause the pain or impact kinda put my body in some sort of shock. When I did get up there were all these guys asking If I was ok, and one of them said "its a good thing you were wearing that helmet." When I sat up I did a body check see If I had any wounds and besides a few scrapes, the one right on my knee stood out cause a small amount was missing. At the time it seemed pretty deep, but it was semi. A lifeguard was around by chance and he pulled out his med kit and did a temp clean just a little and dressed it, a cop came later also.
My bike barely took any damage. there was only 1-2 small scratches the barely noticeable kind, and the medium sized gash was on the bottom near the footrest which doesnt bother me as its kinda white/silverish anyway. My right mirror got busted though and broke off when it hit the ground.
At the time I wasn't wearing pants, and the biggest damage to my body couldve been avoided if i had been. I was wearing gloves, boots, and a helmet though. There was some scrapes on the back and front of the helmet near the mouth. I went home then changed into pants and a jacket and drove myself to the hospital after looking over the wound in the bathroom. They scrubbed and flushed it which hurt a lot and I was on my way.
I never thought it would happen to me, but it finally did. Later I went to the store with a fam member to go pick up bandages and noticed that the place where I crash also had pedestrian cross walk white stripes, which may or may have not contributed to the skid. I would have worn my helmet anyway, just cause it was raining to begin with, but im glad i had a helmet on anyway, just wish I had some pants on. I wasnt scared to ride again, but I was worried about rain, and turns now. Before I was worried when I would ride in the rain, but have done it often to where I felt less worried. There was only one other time where it rained and felt if I was almost going to slid at a turn but didnt.
Honestly though, when I saw and heard the mirror busted in my head I was disappointed. It's kinda weird, but while this was all happening in a split second, I felt safe, and felt that nothing major was going to happen, but felt disappointed that this was my first crash, and that my bike was possibly damaged other than the mirror. Now, I need some new pairs of pants and a new mirror. I still like wearing t-shirts, but I dont want the same crap on my arm that I got on my leg. I still havent bought a proper jacket yet, cause money is tight and need it for other things. It's irony im the one who posted about how i dislike wearing a helmet, but today it potentially saved me from something worse.
Also, i know this doesnt pertain to a lot of people, but I was also wearing an electronic cigarette around my neck on a lanyard. My chest hurt for a while later, but now its gone. My e-cig is fine..lol, but thought it was busted up the way it was looking on the ground. I was always worried about having it around my neck when driving, but if I would put it in my pocket, the cartomizer bent once, and that wasted $3. I thought then thought I should put it in my trunk but it would roll around and bounce in there, and I like to smoke sometimes while at stoplights and heavy traffic. I dunno how potentially dangerous it is, but I know it is dangerous. I do have a cushion case for it, looks like I wont be smoking at stop lights from now on unless I fit the case in my pocket..

So today i went and checked it again, and now only 1 bulb is working, and only works when I put it on brights. When the switch is on low, there is nothing. What do you think could be causing this wiring maybe? I am also always going over a lot of bumps cause thats how a lot of the roads are here, can that cause any damage?

I was walking down the street one day, also without helmet, and fire proof vest, and it turned out in my disadvantage. Some bird, flying high in the stratosphere, shitted a droplet through the atmosphere, and as it was entering the atmosphere it accelerated in speed, caught fire, and hardened, and fell on my head. Immediately I knew my life was ruined! Oh, if I had only wore a helmet that day, and a fireproof vest, I would not have to care about bird droppings falling from outer space, hitting my head, catching my clothes on fire! Now I make sure. This is how I do my daily walk in the park: It's radioactive proof as well! that was so effing hilarious i couldnt stop laughing ahaha. PS i like oldchopperguys stories also. I dont want a bigger helmet the thing looks big on me already i look like im wearing a fish bowl. i wonder if it looks that way and the size is bigger cause they built in a drop down/up shade system inside. I measured my head before i bought it, and the size chart just about matched. When I first got it i had to break it in, i had the painful ear syndrome. I guess i should just sell it on CL, then use the money to go buy another one. I guess you guys made some points like road rash and impact. You guys made me feel scared straight so i guess its a helmet no matter how short the trip. What do you guys think about not tying the strap /locking strap? The helmet is kinda hard to rip off my head, i dont think it would roll off if something happened, i dunno never heard stories of something like that.

the replacement bulbs i got look identical to the ones i replaced. When I looked at the small bulbs they were blacked out. my light switch is just low/high, when i have it on low or high now the brights stay the same, and the shine is the same as it was before if the brights werent on. thanks

Other day I was riding, and bulbs just went out. Went to a scoot shop and got 2 bulbs, replaced and the regular lights work, but wasn't till I really looked, I notice two other super small than the other bulbs and they are as small as a jelly bean. My question; Those my brights and need to buy those and replace?
