When you get your new plug in, take it on a quick WOT ride, then pull the plug and check the color of the ceramic around the tip. Coffee brown is what you want. Too white is too lean, too dark is rich, err on the rich side when tuning (lean is dangerous for gy6 engines).
As for gap, follow your scooter manual.
Welcome to the forums, and enjoy the ride!

One lesson from this, if you have a passenger on your bike, don't be aggressive, your passenger almost always ends up worse. In this case the passenger on the bike is in critical condition. Being a passenger on a two wheeled vehicle is one of the most dangerous positions you can be in, so the driver needs to be extra safe!

Call the guys at monstergy6, they mostly do ruckus stuff, but are very knowledgeable about swapping engines and how to mount them.

And John inspects and test his products, something you don't find with most parts dealers!
Scrappy's is good, but if I had known John better back then, I would have chosen his. I just happen to live 15 minutes from Scrappy's, so they get a lot of my business due to convenience.

You should purchase one of John's ( tvnacman) advancing angle CDIs. Notice i wrote advancING, not advacED. The always advanced CDIs cause kickback at low RPMs, the advancing CDI doesn't change the angle till higher RPMs are reached. Definitely one of the best purchases I made for my BBKd Q50!

Several times that writer asks Why would manufacturers recommend something that could damage the engine? He says Good question. Here's the simple reason, most vehicle manufacturers and dealers make more profit from repairs and parts than they do from the vehicle sales, sad but true and can be found out by reading their quarterly earnings statements.
(Side note-thats why they aren't pushing electrics, they don't break down as much as ICEs do)

When I was 22, I drove halfway across the country on my Honda CB550. Driving into Salt Lake City, a pair of semi's went by me while it was raining, I was prepared for the gusts of the first, but the second caught me and started a tank slapper. On dry pavement, you can often recover from a tank slapper, wet road is another story. I slid across three lanes and close to 100 yards down the wet median. The wet mud saved me from the worst, mostly had trouble getting my helmet off since mud and grass got shoved into it as I slid. If I hadn't been geared up, I would probably be dictating this to a home nurse after she unceremoniously cleaned my backside.
It's simple, gear WILL save you, no gear and your road jelly! ATGATT!!!

Let's see that was three years before the famous little Piggies went to Texas in 65 and whipped them Longhorns back in the old Southwest Conference days! ... Never happened, no way! At least you'll never get a Texan to admit it! HOOK EM HORNS!!!

The working one works on a different engine. Carbs must be tuned to the engine they are on, including the needle height. This may be a red herring, but a fully adjustable carb is cheap, and makes tuning so much easier.

I'm sure that piece comes out, but you could break it trying.
Personal pref, I would buy a new fully adjustable carb.
