Not trying to sound too harsh? All evidence to the contrary. There's a fine line between "harsh" and "honest". I think he's pulled it off. While we all support Terrilee, and hope she gets through this hard time and that she gets to see all the furry ones again soon, it can't be denied that not doing what she did would have been a better option. The USA isn't Soviet Russia, despite what liberals will tell you, people don't actually get sent off to the Gulag for no reason. Ian

I stared it up with airbox connected to the carb and right away that tube filled with oil. I removed the connection from carb to airbox so there is no air intake and it still filled. I then removed the plug and drained the oil out of the tube and left the plug off. I started the engine and oil was blowing out of the tube like spray paint It's not as bad as that, but I'll check my oil level tomorrow, and then test with/without the air box on just to be thorough. I've got a maintenance day tomorrow anyway, once Mr FedEx arrives with my exhaust parts. Ian

It shouldn't fill up that fast... Have you changed the oil, if so you might have overfilled it and check the oil level. The oil in the tube gets sucked into the carb when it's overfilled and that is probably the reason why the engine stops... Facepalm. Yes, yes I have. Although its at the usual level. I'll double check it, and maybe drain a little off. Thanks mate. Ian

I'm actually surprised at how much of a difference it's made. On tight and twisty town roads, where cars always seemed to push their luck and try and squeeze me off the road, or force me between parked cars.......they seem to hesitate now, and give me space. They don't just seem to come barreling along the wrong side of the road at me, and actually let me through.
Maybe they're not completely blind. Even though I've always worn a full sleeve hi-viz over my safety gear......

Sorry if this has been explained before, but it's given me a bit of a head scratcher this morning.
Historically, the breather tube from my rocker/Vv cover has collected half a length of frothy oil and water, with a hint of petrol in it maybe also. I've drained this off once a week as part of my cleaning routine.
Two days ago, my exhaust down tube gave up. I've been running it held together with jubilee clips and wire mesh from work. It sounds like a Harley, and I get extra power, but the parts are on order, and I had to get to work for my last two shifts of rotation, so I pushed out another 180 miles with it like that.
This morning, coming off my last night shift, she wouldn't start. Barely turning over on the starter motor, only a burble out of the kicker, until the kicker didn't spring back. "Seized motor" I thought. As I began to panic, I happened to glance at the breather drain. It was wedged full of water and frothy oil, so I drained it, and the scoot started first time on the button.
About half way home, I got some drastic bogging, so I pulled over, and the engine died (just like with Vv clearance issues). I checked the drain again, completely full. So I drained it, and put the cap in my pocket. No further issues, and slightly more power all the way home.
I've not ridden through any puddles. It's not rained. The weather is just warming up slightly. The bike is always either in the garage, or under cover at work. There's nothing changed, other than the impromptu "free flow" exhaust. What could be generating this much water in the Vv space, to the point where it locks the engine?
Thanks for your help, sorry for rambling, Ian
EDIT: it's a 125cc Pulse Lightspeed 2, if that's useful.

The "real" bikers at work are all great. Most of them ride "sports tourers", like a comfortable version of a sports bike, that's easy enough to fit the Mrs on the back with some luggage and disappear off for a weeks holiday, so they all totally understand the comfort and ease of riding a scoot. One guy even has an 1100cc sports tourer, a 400 Burgman and a 125cc china scoot. So they're all great.
Cagers on the other hand, all my family and friends, just smirk and laugh at me riding a scooter. They don't get it one bit, but then most of them are the sort of clone drivers, who get in, start up, and sit in their own protected little bubble. It does my head in.

I do not need flashing lights or colors. I do not need others to see me. I will see them and I will avoid them. Making myself visible does not mean I'm going to start riding like a cager. It's a well known, and established fact that most motorcycle deaths are caused by cagers pulling out of side roads without seeing (not necessarily without looking) bikers. Like some one else has said. BS. If you think you've seen everyone on the road you're kidding yourself. If you think they've seen you, your just as stupid. The only way to survive is to ride as if every car driver is a drugged up, illegal immigrant, with no idea of road laws, trying to escape the police. Anything else is your . Ian

Refuse to service their bikes? You must have enough of a customer base to sack them off.

Is not likely to stand up in court anymore! I'm fed up with people pulling out on me, so I followed some else's lead on here and got myself some reflective tape. TRON LIGHT BIKE FTW!! Lol Ian

IMHO, a sub 3000LBS 150cc is the perfect entry bike. Are these 3000lbs scoots painted various shades of "drab olive" and fitted with large guns?! Sorry, couldn't resist...... Ian

Kat has given me an idea about phoning them:
We have "record your own audio book" type things over here for servicemen to send home to their (real) kids. So that mum can sit and read the book with the kids while dad "reads" it out from the speaker.
Would something like that not be good? Or even just get a cheap tape recorder to put in their new place, and send tapes to them while you're away. Then their carer can just shove the tape in once a week, or whenever, and walk away and carry on with whatever.
Just a thought.

An update:
I've done a full shift rotation using the Pin Lock now, in temperatures between -6degC and +3degC, so I've done about 600Km with it and think I can judge it on its performance.
It's fantastic.
With the exception of a very small border where the insert doesn't fill the entire visor, it's completely fog free. I did think I may have got the fit wrong because they're was a patch of moisture forming over my nose, but it's actually on the insert, not between the insert and the visor. I think it's just a case of poor ventilation on my cheap helmet not clearing my breath properly. It's not an issue anyway as it forms like the middle bit on a scuba mask, and it doesn't affect your vision in any way.
One issue I've had has been, despite the cold weather, with the visor shut it can get pretty warm inside my helmet! Lol So that could be an issue for people ridding in the summer, or hotter countries.
I hope this is useful, feel free to ask any questions.

Yea, a scooter is a scooter, and if made proper and priced for the cost of the scooter, and not inflated cause of the name, yea, I'd buy one. ^^^^^^this^^^^^ Cause you know that anything Harley written on it just gets price jumped. Lets face it, riding a scooter could only be more fun if they had roundels on the side, browning machine guns in the front and you're chasing a squirrelly German! Ian

Mines ok. It has trouble loading occasionally, but I suspect that's more to do with my rubbish signal than the app itself. I'm on iPhone 4S.

I'm sure they'll be fine. Our cat had to go and live with his "grandparents" for over a year due to my wife being sent to Afghanistan, and me re-joining ship after a promotion course. He was totally fine and still loves us, even if he is a complete PITA! Just knuckle down, get through it, and you'll be back to fluff everywhere, shredded dinning room furniture and a big purry head in your diner every night in no time. Ian (and Asti) Attachments:
