It could also be leaking from the chain guide bolt (allen style), located just above the shaft.

I had a problem similar to that-- my rear tire was rubbing against the single shock on my scooter. It very well could be your problem-- the engine hanger's bushings are worn out. If I remember correctly, I only noticed it AFTER unhooking the shock from the engine, and then lifting the engine up using the rear tire. Have you noticed when going over bumps in the road that it's much more rough than usual? Your hanger may look different than mine in the pic. I still haven't found the exact one I need. Although, I ordered the bushings from partsforscooters, and had my dad's former workplace press them out/in. The bolt you see coming out of the worn out bushing, attaches the hanger to the frame. The engine attaches to the other end of the hanger, on mine.

Ordered the 50/16 gear set finally. Really looking forward to seeing how they perform over the stock gears.
Right now I have approx 8.5g rollers (new engine stock rollers) in the variator. I have some 7.7g laying around in decent condition. Not sure what to expect in that area, I guess I'll find out when I see how my scoot reacts to the new gears.
Just thought I'd give an update.
I've been averaging in the lower 40's for top speed, my max the other day was about 45mph, according to the GPS(which seems close anyway), and I assume that was downhill. I don't weigh a lot. Of course, the rpm's were roaring, which is why I intend on installing a tach.

What filter are you using? That would help because that can change the amount of air flow considerably., and would effect the main jet size.
Have you ran it with a filter yet? It may run better.
It's somewhat of a guessing game right now. I'm not really sure what jet for that setup. Without a bbk, it doesn't need to be huge, imo (90s). However, it shouldn't be in the lower 70s either, IMO. The airflow makes all the difference.

I'd be checking the main jet(s) sizes in both carbs. In the video, you are running it with no air filter/box on the carb and what appears to be a performance pipe. It could be running VERY lean right now.
Is there a possibility this guy put a Big Bore Kit (BBK) on it?
I'd also double check the variator and make sure everything is properly placed in there, if you haven't. I just have a hard time taking other peoples word or trusting their work unless I know them or saw it with my own two eyes.

I updated my tools and various items that I carry, the other day. It's basically a few different sized bungee cords, pocket knife, multi-tool, phillips, flathead(long enough to reach air/fuel mix on carb), 8,10,12mm sockets (or U.S. equiv.), various screwdriver bits, headlamp, emergency pancho, insect repellent, and a ziplock bag that contains: latex gloves, folded shop paper towels, valve cap, electrical tape, and a few mini zip-ties. All of it fits conveniently in a zippered pouch (with plenty of extra room) in the seat compartment. I couldn't find my tire gauge, but that will be in there soon. Possibly a few electrical connectors, since they're light and don't take up any room really.
Everything in the pouch:

It is considerd best practice to replace the stems every time you put a new tire on so for me that about annually. I will take note of that. Thanks.

Fake Koso ?

I have no idea, I don't know much about Koso's.
It's hard to tell if the boss is shorter on the right, or the angle of the ramps are different...or both.
It almost looks like the one on the right was riding on a washer that was on the boss. The outer diameter of the inner circle looks really shiny for sure.
That's all I got for you, my brain is in shutdown mode...lol.

I've got 2 sets of extra gears for the final drive tranny leftover from old engines, so that'll make it easier since I won't have to repeatedly press on/off gears---if for some reason I decide to switch back. I think I'll order them this weekend. Something new and different for once.
My main concerns to begin with are how well it holds up with acceleration and on hills. I've never tinkered with these ratios before. Seems like a double-edged sword, but 50/16 doesn't seem to be as drastic of a change as others.

Yeah mine held up for over 5 years, but should have been changed before I did. The back stem got dinged up (hit the engine) because I wasn't paying attention to the way the stem was facing after either filling it or replacing the tires. Typical airhead move. (no pun intended)

I'm getting in the habit of taking a picture of the odometer right before every oil change. Since it's on my phone, it's easy to refer to and I always have it with me. I usually have a good idea at what mileage it was changed, but I'm tired of playing the guessing game as to when and how many times it's been done. Plus, miles add up a lot faster this time of year.
I've never actually logged the mileage before.

I want to try it, hoping to gain something something worth while. It may very well be my next experiment.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
I put the new stem in today. I cut the old one off. Pretty easy.
I didn't use a clamp. I just took the tire off and broke the bead. Fairly certain I needed the tire off anyway to get it to some more powerful compressed air to pop the beads back into place. Not gonna try the portable car pump, my sister has that anyway.
On my way to the gas station. Peace out!!

I've got a 72cc with stock airbox and a 78 main jet--- would it be worth trying the 50/16 gears or is that something you guys think is better off for the 80+cc kits? I don't weigh a lot, so if it takes off a bit slower I don't mind. I'm not sure what to expect top speed wise though, maybe gain 5mph?
On a side note-- wasn't there a really nice chart/graph somewhere that showed approx results from the minimal upgrades all the way to the "max" upgrades, and what to expect? I wish I bookmarked that.
