If you look in my signature, you will see the current setup. When I first put on the BBK, I used the stock carb with a 79 jet. When removing the plug, I noticed it was real hard backing out. Sure enough, when I go to put it back in, the threads were stripped .Ok, I had another, swapped it out. (will helicoil that one) anyway thats when I changed carbs and put an jet in. The air fuel screw is pretty far out.indicating I could probably upjet. Runs strong though. So I go to remove the plug to check color, and Uh OH starts to get hard. so I soaked it with wd40, and worked it until it came out. Color looks ok! ???I see a few other similar builds with a jet. Do you think I should go to a ? will performance suffer? I'm really happy with how it runs now, but I know a little on the rich side is better than the other way around. It has to be a heat issue. what do you guys think? My setup is pretty much the same as yours, I'm running a , two turns out on my carb. If that's any help to you. I don't want to go to rich, cause you start to wear stuff out,(cylinder, rings etc...) Aloha

Fitting the battery usually becomes a problem, the more amps you go up.

GEARING ?

Thats def my opinion also. I went up 2 and down 2 to 15:38 with a 58.5 bbk which is only 1.5mm bigger than stock. And with th other mods i jave just enoigh power to turn them enough to see a gain in mph. I got about 3 mph top end after the new gears. My stock engine would not have had the power to give the taller geats a purpose. Well im not sure what purpose a geat would have but gears do surve a purpose. Lol Right on geh, my scoots got some other goodies, its not bone stock. I was just wondering what more, some gearing would help me pull out of this little motor.

GEARING ?

First thing you have to know is WHAT GEARS are in there now. Then you can decide whether you want more UMP starting off and getting up to speed or you want more top end. Now you also have to take into consideration the power a motor makes. If you put in too tall of gears for top end it may not reach those speeds because the motor cannot pull them. Gearing taller for a stock motor I always recommend only going 2 up and 2 down otherwise it will be sluggish getting up to speed. For every 1 gear up and 1 gear down you can expect around a 3mph gain. So if your current gears are say 13/40 and you go 15/38 you can expect anywhere from 6-8 mph gain on your top end DEPENDING on your motor. Alleyoop Nice & Simple Mahalos Alley

Hi, I don't really understand to much about how the gearing thing goes, my question is, what performance changes does 17/49 gearing give me above the stock ones ??(TOP/LOW end etc..) Aloha y'all

I was wondering if there's a stronger starter, than stock, that will fit the GY6 50 case. Installed my kit, and it can only start with kickstarter, due to more compression, I think... If it's even possible to put a stronger starter. Thanks for any help
