I was wondering if there's a stronger starter, than stock, that will fit the GY6 50 case. Installed my kit, and it can only start with kickstarter, due to more compression, I think... If it's even possible to put a stronger starter. Thanks for any help

I found that with higher compression, DO NOT twist the throttle when starting. It lets more air in. If everything is adjusted right, It will start without throttle, than you"catch it" when it fires up and twist the throttle. Maybe you just need a new starter, or stronger battery

First off...check your compression and tell us what ya get. Too high to crank nearly always means too high to run without engine destroying detonation. Some Big Bore kits have way too much compression if using your stock head..reason why many double up on the base or head gasket. Sure they make high torque starters..but what is the sense in that...if the excessive compression is going to ruin your build? Lithium Ion batteries have size for size..right about twice the Lead Acid batteries Cold Cranking Amps and would spin it right over. But again..is the compression so high it is going to kill your new build? I'd test compression first.. ;D

[replyingto=carasdad]carasdad[/replyingto]That's absolutely right! I know this from my own experience. I tried a hoca piston in a scrappydog BBK cylinder and 47mm head with A9 cam, and it was a complete failure. I just could not make it run right even with 2 base gaskets. The thing was making 220PSI! I got rid of the whole setup, and put in an airsal kit, stock head and A9 cam.I could'nt be happier.Plenty of go when you need it, and also tame and quiet for normal riding

As of right now my starter cranks a couple times, then makes a smooth spinning sound, Luckily my motor hasn't blown yet (knock on wood) and I haven't had any malfunctions smoking, burnt oil, whathavenot. I do need to chk comp. though.

Its a balance between power and compression, my 60mm kit with stock head has a compression of 220 its starts now with a 230 cca battery hope it goes down after break in if not ill change the head, but i do enjoy the power and torque

[replyingto=f4milytime]f4milytime[/replyingto]Guys, you're gettin' a little off of OP's topic If your starter turns the engine over a couple of revs, then goes "whrrrrrr" then the gear on the starter is no longer engaged with the "ring gear" on the engine. I'd guess bad start motor assembly or worn/missing teeth on either the starter motor gear or the ring gear on the engine. If teeth were missing or badly worn on the ring gear, I'd expect problems with the kick start too. /First post on the "new" board
