Well, As most of you probably know, I replaced the entire engine on my 2013 50cc TaoTao scooter. Well, Here's the kicker now... Sometimes it will start up great on the 1st try, & other times it takes like 10-15 tries before it will start up.  What does this sound like to you? I mean it sounds like it wants to crank right up but, doesn't catch sometimes. & I have kept my scooter locked up in my shed, so I know that no one has messed with it since the motor was replaced. This is just so friggin' odd! I used the BelRay engine & BelRay gear oil the motor came with, its been in there for about a week or so now, I'm planning on changing the oils this weekend. So, Opinions? Please. Thank you! |

I got the motor from ScooterPartsCatalog.com its a 50cc short case. I was gonna get a bigger motor but was told it would not have the same set up, that I would have to modify the frame to accommodate the larger motor.  Anyways, I will be taking some pix in a lil while after Ninja gets a bath! ;D |

So, the tracking info says the new motor will be here some time today, so last night I decided to tackle the old motor & get it out of the way.... & Tada! Here is my Ninja with NO "Heart".  I'm thinking of selling the old motor, as is, for whatever its worth. I have to pay my manager back for my new motor as soon as I can. Any ideas a motor like this could sell for? Attachments:

Ok, In case anyone missed anything, here is a quickie update... 2013 50cc TaoTao scooter. Lots of problems been fixed so far, current issue, Rocker Arm Holder cracked (replaced for the 2nd time), decided to just say F it & order a whole new 50cc engine. Now... According to the tracking info it SHOULD be delivered tomorrow. Here is the new motor: www.scooterpartscatalog.com/49cc-4-stroke-qmb139-engine-220-40.html It does not say if it comes with any break in oil or not, What kind of oil would you recommend? I used Rotella T 15w40 in the old motor. Would that be ok to run through this one? Or should I get something different? |

I finally gave up, after alot of thought, instead of selling this thing for parts considering its my only means of transportation... I decided to beg my boss to use the company credit card to buy a whole new engine for my scooter... & IF this doesn't work.. I will be hosting a bon fire! Everyone on here is welcome to come! lol Anyways...
