Hey guys, Today I changed out my final drive oil on my Burgman.. When I removed the cover, which was a challenge in itself, I notice there was a bluish tint on the right side pulley cover. (Not sure of the technical name) The photo below is not my bike, but I'm posting it just for a reference of the part I'm referring to The cover on the right has a blue tint like its been burnt. How concerned should I be? Thanks .

After reading and listening to the many opinions on this subject, I made my decision. I went to Walmart and bought the cheapest conventional 10W-40 oil with the API approval stamp on it.I decided synthetics are better, but not worth paying double and sometimes triple the cost, especially if you change the oil as much as I do.

HAHAHAHA, the old oil saga again, that is like asking someone what beer do you drink, everyone has their favorite and their own opinions. Im going with the synthetic ..I think it taste great and it's less filling! Btw...I'm pretty sure synthetic is made of 75% regular oil and 25% additives. So it has the same base...so of course it can be mixed. But I'm just a novice at this...CHEERS

Hello...
I'm going to need to change my oil soon and I'm strongly considering using Amsoil 10w-40 both in the engine and final drive. Was wondering what you all use. Regular or Synthetic? What brands and why? Does it even matter to you, or you get whatever is on sale at a good price? Just interested in hearing various opinions on the subject....
Thanks Dan

Speaking of Burgmans, one of the issues I have with mine is the seat. It's not that comfortable....for me anyway. Cheeks may vary ;D Anyone have a cheap/good solutions? I know there are those Gel pads that sell for $150.00+...I'm sure they're good, but I'm not looking to spend that much. Old post, but: I had the same problem. I found an Airhawk inflatable pad was a complete fix. (I also have a Bearcat backrest, but haven't installed it yet.) I too decided on getting the AirHawk. Glad I did. Went for a 300 mile trip with it and there were no issues with a sore butt...;-).

I hadn't noticed it during my first year that I owned it. After about 2500 miles or so, (currently 11,000 miles) I changed the air filter and spark plug, I also began riding it faster than I had....around 70mph for a 15 minute period. Not sure if this has anything to do with it? I have emailed my mechanic to see if he's ever come across it or not.

Tmax probably wins any performance tests against the Burgman 400 and or the Majesty, it's two closest maxi-scoot rivals. Where it falls short however,is its practicality. It's storage space has room for 1 helmet and not too much else. They're more expensive too. I purchased my 08 Burgman with 8,000 miles on it, from a private owner for $2400. A used Burgman 650 I've seen go less than $5000.So, I guess it depends on your priorities. ..performance or practicality?

I once thought all gas is the same....it really didn't matter which station or brand one purchased it at.
Not thinking that's the case anymore.

I've been averaging a consistent 54 MPG on my Burgman 400 on my 40 mile round trip ride to and from work. Personally, I thought that was a little low compared to what others I've seen have gotten with their 400's. Yesterday, I filled up at a Valero station instead of my usual Exxon station right close to my home.I took a 40 mile round trip to my doctors office and to my surprise my MPG's jump to 58 MPG! (57.8 to be exact)
I'm wondering if anyone can relate to this by having a similar experience with different types of gas? .
