I've been averaging a consistent 54 MPG on my Burgman 400 on my 40 mile round trip ride to and from work. Personally, I thought that was a little low compared to what others I've seen have gotten with their 400's. Yesterday, I filled up at a Valero station instead of my usual Exxon station right close to my home.I took a 40 mile round trip to my doctors office and to my surprise my MPG's jump to 58 MPG! (57.8 to be exact)
I'm wondering if anyone can relate to this by having a similar experience with different types of gas? .

The only correlation I have had with fuel is between summer blend and winter blend gas here. My Yamaha Riva 125 would get 92 mpg during the summer but with winter gas, it dropped to mpg. My recollection is that winter blend gas has more butane than summer gas. I think the changeover is made in the spring.

My old wagon with Shell or BP averages around 16-20 mpg mixed driving.
With Conoco/Phillips, he got 12 mpg, every time.
And now with QT's pure gas, unless I've gotten low-20s more frequently than in the past.
Gas is NOT gas is gas. And brands do make a difference. But so does clean gas without crapanol.

I once thought all gas is the same....it really didn't matter which station or brand one purchased it at.
Not thinking that's the case anymore.

i've also heard filling up during the coolest time of day gives you a bit more fuel. supposedly fuel expands at higher temps so i guess it is fact but not sure how much extra you would get, if even noticeable.
