Worth Sharing..Not sure if they're being sold here, but on the internet , you can buy anything. (I think) www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/local/seized-motorbike-crash-helmets-increased-chance-of-death-1-6066835A potentially lethal batch of motorbike crash helmets which were on sale in the city have been seized by Peterborough Trading Standards. The helmets, which were on sale for just £25, were so dangerous trading standards officers said it would be like not wearing head protection at all. Now bikers are being warned to be aware of the risk of buying the cheap helmets on the internet. Officers are urging anyone who has bought one to stop using it immediately and return it to their supplier. The helmets concerned are Jiekai model JK 100 or JK 1000. Peter Stonely, Principal Trading Standards Officer, said: “As someone who does ride a motorcycle I am shocked by these results. “They failed impact tests, being destroyed within two impacts, rather the full five it should take. “This would give a rider almost no protection in a crash, increasing the chance of brain injury or death. “They also failed a number of other tests. “Wearing them would give the rider a sense of safety, which the helmet would not back up. “You may as well not wear a helmet, they are that dangerous.” It is believed the helmets were old stock transported from China and purchased on the internet. Anyone who thinks they may have purchased one of the affected helmets should stop using it immediately. Howard Anderson, director at the British Motorcycle Federation (BMF) said: “The question you have to ask is how much is your head worth? You should only use recognised brands and helmets that have passed a Sharp Test. “You get what you pay for and you should get the best helmet you can afford. There are plenty of good solid helmets available at reasonable prices. “Buying a helmet like this is like buying a deathwish.” Trading Standards officers attended this weekend’s BMF show at the Peterborough Showground offering advice about helmet safety. what about when there is no outer lane? where should i position myself? I typically position myself a little right of a cars right tail light, then keep my eyes on the mirror for any signs of danger If I saw a car like the one above coming at me, I at least have a some chance to get out of the way by moving forward. If I were directly behind him, I'd have no chance.

I have to agree with Jerry, most accidents can be avoided by smart riders vs a dumb cadger. Case in point is the above video. Had the rider simply stopped directly behind the car, he'd would have been doing nothing wrong. Car 2 slams into him and the rider is severely injured or possibly even dies. Most would place 100% of the blame on the driver. However, as a rider, I'd rather be alive than be right. The rider should have known better than to stopped directly behind a vehicle. The rider does imo, have some degree of responsibility of riding smart as these bikers did. They were able to continue their ride on their bikes and not in the back of an ambulance .

These 3 riders were smart enough to leave themselves an out....it's likely saved the life of the last one. Notice too how far the car who was hit rolls forward.
Be safe...

A friend of mine owns a Majesty. He loves the bike however, he's complained to me how his butt hurts only after 50 miles of riding, I had the same issue with my Burgman, the seats are not comfortable at all. Yesterday, I rode 300 miles (190 out with three 15 minute breaks, and `110 back with one break.) My butt wants to thank the makers of the Airhawk II...no issues at all.

I'm just about ready to leave and meet up with 19 other scooter riders as we take a 150 mile tour over area bridges. Having lunch and Susan's and Fred's house , then we start back. Unfortunately, my wife who is on her own separate venture, with her middle school Sunday school girls this weekend, has the camera. www.meetup.com/unitedscooterriders/events/170921932/

I think this is more of a distraction attempting to get it set right than it's worth. Anything that takes your focus off the road is not a good idea IMHO. agreed. if i try to get it to work on my scoot i would only use it for long trips. I think most would agree, this is not meant to use for a daily commute. Its more meant to use when you're traveling long distances on a straight road for hours at a time and your wrist starts to cramp up.I wouldn't use it in traffic or curvy roads.

Part of the War of 1812, was the Battle of Ft McHenry, which inspired Francis Scott Key to write a poem which eventually became the Star Spangled Banner. If you don't know the whole story behind what inspired Key....it's a very 'macho" thing....
