Check out www.peacepartsfactory.comI see your rear brake caliper with pads for cheap 25 bucks www.peacepartsfactory.com/product.cfm?pr_id=479We are owned by the Peace Sports Factory in China. That means that we are truly factory direct and have the full support of the manufacturer, since we are owned by the manufacturer. Alot of our parts will fit all different brands of Chinese powersports products. So just because your bike is not a Peace Sports, Peace Motors, Blue Eagle Motors or Bashan Motors brand does not mean we still can not fulfill your needs. That's a great site! Thanks for directing me to it. My scooter is a Bashan Peace Sports 50, so that site is perfect for me to use for all the stock parts I need to replace. Do you know if I can get the same color plastics from there? Also, it's my front tire brake caliper that fried, sorry if I got the two confused in my description. So it's not just me that has trouble with the rear brake not stopping full force... I'm gonna get a new caliper and new brake pads for the rear I think it's just going to be a while. Thanks for the optimism! I can handle being maimed, but dying? No way, I got bills to pay! My shoes are already pretty chewed up from riding with my foot on the ground on turns during the winter months, I think I'd have better luck with my squishy brakes.

Why exactly wouldn't you want sliders? If you don't mind me asking.

[replyingto=carpespasm]carpespasm[/replyingto]I just ordered a bbk for my secret 60. If you can wait week or two for me to install my bbk you can have my leftover parts, which would include a 44mm piston, a 44mm cylinder, rings, and maybe a head. It has about 2300 china miles on it but I've never had a single problem with it.
It would essentially be the smallest bbk you can get by upping the ccs by about 14. I can get about 40mph out of the thing.
I could understand if you don't want used though.

So for anyone that has been reading any of my posts you know that I recently ordered a 50mm BBK from Techdirect, AKA "Scooter Parts Mania" (the speedo puck I ordered from them came with a mini catalog for Scooter Parts Mania, though the prices are way higher on the catalog). Well, that fact is just hilarious because I had forgotten and just now remembered I fried my front brake reinstalling my tire a while back! Now I'm over my monthly budget for parts, yet my front brakes are pretty much fried, while my rear brakes were crap to begin with. So here's how it went; my grandfather and I struggled for 20 minutes or so to get the old tire off and the new pirelli tire on my front wheel, and then we finally did that and I installed it. Little did I know that there's a damn spacer there which had fallen out during the wheel removal. So After installing and re-installing this tire a hundred or so times trying to figure out what this scraping was all about, my grandfather found the spacer and asked me what it was. This was both a "doh!" and "eureka!" moment for me. So I installed the spacer, reinstalled the wheel, and took it for a test drive. And it still scraped! Having no idea what I did wrong, I stopped at a stop sign and pressed the front brake as it went squishy and a horrible scraping noise came from the front. When I got home I noticed that the brake disc was too hot to touch, and upon closer inspection the entire rear of the brake disc was not rubbing against a brake pad but against the wall of the brake caliper... Needless to say there were chunks of metal melted and fused to the brake disc and my caliper is ruined with the brake pad now sitting crooked against it. After hours of sanding and scraping all the metal off the brake disk, the disk is good as new! My caliper is pretty much fried though. After reinstalling the tire for the thousandth time, this time using a flathead screwdriver to guide the brake disc in between the pads and making especially sure that the spacer and everything was back in place, I decided to go for a test drive. My brakes, luckily, still have stopping power. The rear brake won't stop the rear tire no matter how hard I try, even tightening it, it just won't stop the tire when moving, it only slows me down. The front tire stops it just about every time. Even though now the front brake feels squishy and doesn't seem to stop on a dime like it used to... It's been well over a month since all this happened so I had forgotten entirely that my brakes didn't always feel this way, I had just gotten used to it. So I've been looking at the brake caliper here... www.scrappydogscooters.com/COMMON_PARTS.htmlBut I'll be getting my bbk before then. So, with more engine power, and less braking power, my only question is... Am I gonna die? :/

[replyingto=tactics]tactics[/replyingto]Yeah, it is rather difficult to tell the difference of pitch, I live a block away from the mainroads so I know what you mean. Luckily I've got musicians ears and that helps some. I don't know what would help you adjust your a/f other than driving some place quiet. Are you having trouble removing the variator nut? If so, this is the method I use: 8g sliders sounds great, heavier for top speed, lighter for acceleration and hills - you are right.

Nice to formally meet you, Kaymo. Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate; hope you still have time to stop by and help the little guy. Being a Honda guy, what's your opinion of the Honda Zook?

0-40 in about 3.5 seconds 1/2 throttle no word on top yet, speed limit on my road is only 35 and got a cop around who likes to pick on me, impounded my scoot a couple weeks ago so he could get his ticket count. But everything seems to be going great after adjustments, going to take it to work tonight 6 mile ride. Will know top speed and over all ride in general after that. So far so good and very pleased with the results, still need to get an NGK plug and I think that is about it. EDIT: Not taking it to work tonight or tomorrow due to storms. So I won't get to test it out fully till Sunday. Currently running 7.5 rollers, should I go lower or stay where I am? Another thing, where do I get a clutch tool for these things so I can replace the spring with a 1.5k Nice job finally getting your scooter started I think you may benefit from 8.5 or 9g dr. pulley sliders, but I could be wrong, too high of rpms could be bad for the engine. I used this clutch tool to remove my clutch bell: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039LEZFS/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I used this method to remove my clutch nut:

[replyingto=jr]JR[/replyingto]Hank noted this in my topic that I posted regarding this. I got a rude message about my antivirus from a moderator, then a polite reassurance from the admin that the site is safe. I think it's just a false positive, but better safe than sorry for everyone else. I still like the site despite the extremely annoying virus thing.
No worries for anyone using linux or mac though...

I got the speedo puck in the mail today. It sucks It fits, it works, it reads pretty much the same as my last one, but it makes the needle shake back and forth. I guess because it just wobbles around the general speed it's going it pretty much works better since it's only a guesstimate device anyway. :/ You get what you pay for, but it works good enough.

Are you using a restricted CDI? Or an unrestricted? If unrestricted then your engine is limited by its physical capacity from what I've read, but that still means that you could have the rpms too high. I've tried Three 9g sliders in my scooter before, I loved it so much that I bought six 4g sliders to replace the setup. Most people advise against doing only 3 weights because of the wear on the belt and supposedly excessive vibration but for a short term experiment it's a great thing to do and can even help you test out which weight setup will be the best long term one to strive for. My stock weights were 6.5, I doubt yours were 10, but I guess anything is possible. Here's my ongoing experiment thread: www.scootdawg.net/showthread.php?t=53304Right now I'm experimenting with 3 4g sliders and 3 6.5g rollers.

you will need a good battery (not from wallymart) the one i bought from battery mart says right on the box 180 cold cranking amps called a big crank $60 also the gold CDI from Tvnacman seems to have helped I already had the Orange cdi on it the gold one is much bigger mabey gave me 2mph on top end plus helped the starting. Thanks for the response! I'll be sure to buy a bigger battery, though it sucks that it won't come with financing since I already placed my bbk order. I hadn't realized the gold cdi was that much better than the orange one. I'll see if I can crank my bbk when I install it, and if I have any trouble I'll be sure to order the gold one. I'm not sure whether to get the Yuasa battery, or to give this Zipp battery brand another shot since it works it's just that I ordered a weak one initially... Decisions, decisions... Thanks again.

I think we need to get a scooter gang together, a hardcore scooter gang, and all meet at Hanks place for a little late night vigilante scooter thief round up. Followed by a bit of heavy stick & boot justice... I have a plan... I'll bring my nunchaku...

Thanks for posting this, Rider. I'm getting a 50mm bbk soon and this information is very helpful, for me especially. Right now I have the stock starter and a wimpy 5Ah battery I got off of newegg.com. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA15U0HN4821Now that I that I think about it, it doesn't even have specifications on the webpage, I kinda assumed I had a 7Ah all this time, but now that I'm thinking about this, I must have a wimpy 5Ah that sucks at holding a charge. My scooter starts almost every time, but if my battery is less than almost fully charged it will refuse to even turn over. I would have rectified this by now, but my only multimeter is at my father's house in Michigan... I'm going to at least need a new battery to even attempt turning over a 50mm bbk won't I?

That's horrible, Hank! How could this happen?! What kind of low life steals a scooter... Do you have some kind of theft insurance thing? RIP Spectre, may they at least treat your parts well wherever they took you Hi No insurance on that one i do have it on my aprilia though I parked Spectre out side as my garage is filled with my other motor bikes And i always locked him up with a cable lock and disc lock Last night i took him for a ride after dinner came home around 9 and parked the scoot but forgot to use the locks This morning when i got up he was gone I know they will never find this one Its just like the time with my Puma Well its time to go scooter shopping to find a replacement for him Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank That's just terrible. I forget my scooter outside all the times, sometimes with the keys in the ignition even. I count myself very, very fortunate for not having my precious scooter stolen from me. It's a real shame you don't have some kind of theft insurance of sorts. Good thing chinese scoots are so cheap, especially on craigslist. Good luck finding a replacement!
