While awaiting my 5 gram rollers I decided to try removing 3 of the stock rollers from my T3. Takes off faster but the rpms seen extremely high. Is this normal? Not sure what my sock weights are but chineese scoots are usually pretty heavy.

That's exactly what you would expect. Detonation may be imminent... D8

But what rpms are too high for these 50 cc's? I figure my stock weights are at least 10 gram so that 60 total. Removing 3 brings it to 30 and six 5 gram weights are 30 so its the same. I was told 5 would work good for me bt several members here. Im just worried about the rpms and engine life.

Are you using a restricted CDI? Or an unrestricted? If unrestricted then your engine is limited by its physical capacity from what I've read, but that still means that you could have the rpms too high. I've tried Three 9g sliders in my scooter before, I loved it so much that I bought six 4g sliders to replace the setup. Most people advise against doing only 3 weights because of the wear on the belt and supposedly excessive vibration but for a short term experiment it's a great thing to do and can even help you test out which weight setup will be the best long term one to strive for. My stock weights were 6.5, I doubt yours were 10, but I guess anything is possible. Here's my ongoing experiment thread: www.scootdawg.net/showthread.php?t=53304Right now I'm experimenting with 3 4g sliders and 3 6.5g rollers.

If I remember right my stock 50cc weights were 6.5 grams. I put 4 gram one in. Much better.

They wouldn't put 10 grams in a stock scoot. It would make the gear ratio too high too fast and the engine would bog too badly to get any speed. I agree with everyone else that they prbly are 6.5.

Halving your roller weight would do just what you describe and lead to premature engine failure. Some find a few grams lighter in weights that are a few mm larger diameter can give you the best of both worlds however if you are trying for 150cc to 250cc performance from a 50cc bike then you are better off just trading that 50 in on a bigger bike.
