Good afternoon everyone,
Quick question for you guys. After riding today I noticed some sort of fluid leaking near the back left of my scooter. It seems to be leaking and dripping down the side of where the black hose is held down by the two plastic pieces.(Not sure what that hose is for?) Has anyone else had this issue? I checked my engine oil and it seems to be a little low but I'm not positive which fluid it is. Any suggestions on where it could be leaking from? Also, how do you take the two black covers off to get to the air filter and oil filter?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you add a photo of where you are talking about. It probably would help you get a better response.
On mine, there are several black hoses on the left side so being very specific would be helpful.
Thanks

Take some of the fluid and put it on a sheet of paper and compare it to the various fluids in the scooter and it will be easy to match up the leaking fluid with the color of the drip. This works well on automobiles too.

Ususlly you will have two hoses on the CVT side, One hose comes from the VALVE COVER which is a vent for the Crankcase, the other small hose is the Vent Hose from your tranny. If you recently changed your tranny you may have overfilled it and it will squirt some out. Alleyoop

[replyingto=mnemec01]mnemec01[/replyingto]The fluid seems to be leaking near the hex screw to the left of the black hose. Not sure which fluid it could be? It then leaks down next to the hose onto the ground. Any ideas?

The black hose in the picture is your air filter housing drain hose. Does the fluid have a fuel smell to it or is it oily ?

The leak has a slight fuel smell but isn't too strong ... Also, the black hose has a cap on the end preventing anything from draining out, should this cap be on or removed?

That would probably be the crankcase purge hose which should be drained after each oil change. If it is filling to overflowing between oil changes then it may be time for a valve adjustment. If this is a new bike then it may need to be broken in so give it a minute to warm up after you start it and go easy on the throttle for a few blocks after first starting it. Otherwise it could be valve adjustment time. If it has been sitting for a while you may want to consider something that will decarbonize the piston and free up any sticking piston rings as excessive blow by (burnt and possibly raw fuel slipping past the piston into the crankcase) can cause this.
