How old is your Linhai 260? How did you determine it was the carb? The reason I ask is that you could have other issues which points to a bad carb. All the years that I have had my Linhai and thought it may have been the carb, it turned out to be something else.
Have you replaced your fuel line? Fuel filter? CDI? Spark plug? These were some of my issues that I faced when I thought it may have been the carb.
The carb is one of the more expensive parts on this scooter so try troubleshooting the the other parts that I mentioned before buying a new a carb.
Thanks,

What are you missing now? Seems you are so close to getting this to run.

Great story. It sure looks beautiful there. It is nothing like what we have in Georgia.

I was curious to the 4 things you needed to get your scooter working. Also, the best thing to do is call Sunright and talk to Jim. Their web site is not very good. :-)

gib1969: I have really enjoyed it. The scooter had its set of issues but not any more than others. I did most of the repairs so it was a trial error process. The bike has good power and is very comfortable cruising at 55 mph. Top speed is less than 70. I don't know how others took this over that. Overall, I have 25k miles on it. Went through 2 CVT belts, 2 CDI, 1 water pump, 4 sets of tires, 2 valve adjuments and numerous oil changes. Right now, I am trying to replace the swing arm since the muffler bolt holes on it ended up getting stripped when I was trying to replace the rear tire.
I think from all that I have read in this forum, Linhai quality is above some of the other Chinese brands. however, Linhai still uses softer metal which causes many screws to strip or even break. Their use of tabs on their body panels drives me crazy. I really like the retaining clips that Suzuki uses on their burgmans. One good thing for me is that I live in Atlanta, GA and Sunright (distributor of Linhai for USA is in Duluth, GA so I can actually walk in there and grab parts that I need. This is the best part of having the Linhai. Repair was fairly quick since I was able to source them easily.
I hope this answers your question. If I had to buy another 250-260cc engine scooter, I would buy it again.
Thanks -

It appears that my seat latch cable has finally snapped. I no longer feel the resistance when I turn my key in the ignition. So, anyone know how to get into the trunk? I need to get some things out like my tool bag. ?

[replyingto=rockynv]rockynv[/replyingto]Thanks everyone for your input.
I went and looked at the scooter. It seems that the owner turned it over to a dealer to handle the sale. It was really nice and well kept. Engine sounded nice and everything worked on the bike including all the digital instruments on the dash. It even had a Givi side saddle already mounted and the passenger backrest. I did talk the dealer to lower the price comparing other 2008 with much less mileage selling for about the same price. However, the dealer has several hundred dollars of prep fees that they have added on and with taxes and everything else, I'm looking at close to $3000 out the door. Still considering it. If the engine is as bullet proof as everyone says, I think it should be good for many miles.

[replyingto=konstantinscoot]konstantinscoot[/replyingto]I think you are on the right track. My scooter is a 2006 and the coils went out on me around 6-7K. The CDI went about the same time which made it really difficult to diagnose. Are you at least getting the headlights to turn on? Just making sure it is not your battery. Finally, this question has to be asked... is your side kickstand down? If so, you know it will not start with it down. Hopefully, someone with some actual knowledge will jump in and help. Good luck.

I am looking at a 2008 Black Burgman 400 with 31,000 miles on it. The price is around $2500. Can I get some feedback on what to be aware of on this particular year's model? I think the bluebook value is right in this ball park so the price seems fair. I'm concerned about any known mechanical issues that you all may be aware of. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
