It appears that my seat latch cable has finally snapped. I no longer feel the resistance when I turn my key in the ignition. So, anyone know how to get into the trunk? I need to get some things out like my tool bag. ?

gib1969: I have really enjoyed it. The scooter had its set of issues but not any more than others. I did most of the repairs so it was a trial error process. The bike has good power and is very comfortable cruising at 55 mph. Top speed is less than 70. I don't know how others took this over that. Overall, I have 25k miles on it. Went through 2 CVT belts, 2 CDI, 1 water pump, 4 sets of tires, 2 valve adjuments and numerous oil changes. Right now, I am trying to replace the swing arm since the muffler bolt holes on it ended up getting stripped when I was trying to replace the rear tire.
I think from all that I have read in this forum, Linhai quality is above some of the other Chinese brands. however, Linhai still uses softer metal which causes many screws to strip or even break. Their use of tabs on their body panels drives me crazy. I really like the retaining clips that Suzuki uses on their burgmans. One good thing for me is that I live in Atlanta, GA and Sunright (distributor of Linhai for USA is in Duluth, GA so I can actually walk in there and grab parts that I need. This is the best part of having the Linhai. Repair was fairly quick since I was able to source them easily.
I hope this answers your question. If I had to buy another 250-260cc engine scooter, I would buy it again.
Thanks -

I was curious to the 4 things you needed to get your scooter working. Also, the best thing to do is call Sunright and talk to Jim. Their web site is not very good. :-)

I just stole this from Scootdawg for 2008. Hope it helps.. scootdawg.proboards.com/thread/16749/seat-access-linhai-260wxguru Great Big Guru Dawg ***** wxguru Avatar Silver MC-54-250B; Linhai Version Posts: 749 Seat access Linhai 260 Sep 26, 2008 at 5:38am Post Options Post by wxguru on Sep 26, 2008 at 5:38am Oh my....do I feel your pain. I had a problem on Wednesday with mine. My 2nd latch on the back of the seat never worked, and the spring never worked to it either....what happens on Wednesday? The back latch caught, and I had no way of getting the seat open. I cursed, smashed fingers, and 40 minutes later, had it open. How did I do it? I don't know how yours is, but what I did was carefully pry up on the seat (the side latch worked fine).....carfully pried it up until I could slip a pair of needle nose pliers in. I reached down into the seat latching mechanism (difficult, but with patience, I got to it), and I popped the side latch line out of its holder so I had access to the rear latch line (directly below the side latch...can't get to it without popping the side latch line off). I then popped it out of its holder (the little plastic piece that holds the actual line in place)so I could pull on the line. The little ball and line was still secure in its spring latch device. So I was able to reach up under the scoot, and grab the rear latch line and pull...while pulling, I put light pressure on the rear, and sure enough, it came undone. I still have a very sore thumb from smashing it. Good luck, just think of any solution you think might work and try it. That is what I had to do....and I finally found the right one for me. I didn't break the seat, but was afraid I would by prying up on it so much....but all is well now. Last Edit: Sep 26, 2008 at 5:40am by wxguru 2008 Silver Roketa Cyprus 250 (MC-54-250B) 4076 miles since Jul 2008. Pirelli SL-26 Tires 2242 miles so far. Read more: scootdawg.proboards.com/thread/16749/seat-access-linhai-260#ixzz3Xsp6XV4Y My Mc-79-250 cable came undone, and I had to do similar prying on the seat to get to the cable. Don't worry too much, at least on mine the seat frame is plastic, and flexible and can take a fair amount of bending without loosing its shape.. Good luck to you..

Thanks - I replaced all the "salt water taffy" Chinese bolts with stainless steel ones, also since I found it nearly impossible to remove the body panels due to the self locking tabs, I end up sanding down the "lip" on them for much easier removal.
