So I recently had the rare problem of a fouled spark boot. Although I pulled out all but a small patch of hair trying to figure it out, I did.
Then we realized ok well if we have fire now we have to have gas, and the carb is surely stuck up with garbage after sitting up for about half a year. So we cleaned the jets one proved particularly difficult but we got it. I was so excited one step closer every moment, soon I would be back on the road. Then I tried to start it. The electric starter just spun, and didn't engage how it was supposed to. Damnit so close...
So I was using a car battery the whole time. After the fact I was told this is a no-no because it burns up the bendix? the thing that engages the starter. So when I took it off, the cap of the starter that is, i messed with the kickstart and now it acts sticky like it doesnt wanna go back to home position, but if i pull it back it will stay. So now my starter is basically F****D i believe. I don't even know if my carb is clean because really i need the electric starter to get some gas going in the carb.. This thing is wearing me thin. It is one problem after another after another after another after another afte...... you get the point...
Is my starter fried? Whats the cheapest fix? Any good carb cleaning videos for TaoTao 50cc Chinese made POSes to make sure i got all of it. Could i pull the carb off and soak it in gas to do what carb cleaner does? Anyone have a gun?.... I needed this thing running so long ago...

The bendix is all mechanical so it cannot burn it up, so that is ok unless it is dirty and not extending out to engage the teeth on the Variators teeth. If the starter spins when connecting the car battery is it not fried. Since it has been sitting for quite a while I am sure the PILOT JET PASSAGE is CLOGGED along with the tiny holes by the butterfly that the gas comes out of. So with that said AGAIN TAKE THE CARB off and get a can of CARB CLEANER they come with lng thin straw. Take the straw and stick it in the jet and see if SPRAY COMES OUT in the following picture: Also turn the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE screw CLOCKWISE until it stops and then turn it COUNTERCLOCKWISE 2 1/2 turns. Now because you took the carb off it will be empty so it will take some cranks to fill the bowl full of gas. In the picture you see that hose on the right curved down that is the bowl vent hose you can flip that hose up and pour 2ozs of gas to fill the bowl in other words PRIME it. You can take the spark plug out and put in a TEASPOON of gas down the hole and that should make it fire up and maybe stay running. Alleyoop

If your kickstart is actually stuck I would pull the CVT cover off and clean it up and check it out before I put oil on it, just me and it ain't that hard to do.

Yeah, carb is the way to go. Aside from that, order up a new battery and oil that kickstarter good. Just be aware that the kickstarter is only intended for emergency use should the battery be dead or something.

You either learn to work neatly and orderly of yu don't. Scoots can be difficult. Just got to be smarter and more patient and bullheaded than unthinking metal. But notice, you got lots of good information here.
You are welcome
