I have a 2008 Roketa 250 and I am in good health for 87 years old and a retired Marine but I just cannot get my scoot up on the center stand. To change oil or what ever I have to get some one to help me. Is there some dark secret to this and don't ask me to lift it up 'cause it is 300 lbs. and a little out of my range.

as you stand on the center stand you should pull backwards and it should pop up on the center stand if not have the center stand check it may be bent

Left hand on left hand grip, right hand on rear passenger grab rail, foot on center stand peg and HEAVE.

Even on my little 125 at 27 years old, I struggled to start with until I got the nack of it.
Like others have said: left hand on left grip, right hand on pillion handle/seat/top box (I actually don't have a box, so I use the mounting point as an extra hold, right foot on stand lever, but don't HEAVE, just apply body weight to the lever, while giving the bike a pull to get it moving.
Next time you get help around, just ask them to hang around for five minutes so you can have a play with a bit of help, just to find what works best for you.

Tail drag I am 73 with a weak mind and bad back, I found that riding up on a three forth to one inch board with rear wheel then do as jwalz1 suggested it works for me and my scoot is heavy

Getting the knack is a big part of it.
My Znen is heavy, and is difficult enough for me to pop up onto the center stand. The lever that you step on is much shorter than on my Xingyue. I may weld on an extension so if someone smaller or weaker than myself rides it, they can get it up.

How about forgetting about the center stand, and get a wheel chalk. screw it down to the garage floor and just drive the scooter in, lock it down, and press on. It may not be as high, but ya might be able to rectify that by adding a couple 2X6's to drive it up on. Just a thought. , I can't even get the girlfriends 150 on it's center stnad. and I'm only 63

It is all technique with no muscle involved. As long as you can shift you weight onto the lift lever even an 117 lb petite girl can do it.
Watch little Teresa at 5'4" put her 600+ lb Suzuki Burgman 650 up on the stand:

Hello and welcome. That you do your own oil changes is an outstanding example of stamina. (and bulldog tenacity) But in regards to your present situation, I do recall seeing some motor scooters on what amounts to a stationary ground stand (I'll poke around and see if they are available and hopefully for sale.)
