ok, so my friend decided to buy a bike and i was... cool i want one.. this will be my first bike but little did i know that once i made the purchase everyone had warnings on what to do and what to buy. "Dont buy that" "dont do this" "change this and change that" "bought a Chinese bike? your dog and cat will mutate and will murder the mail man".... yeah i have downloaded a crap load of pdi videos and sheets and pretty much know the basics BUT.... everyone seems to change their parts and avoid using the original scooter manufacture parts (spark plug - belt- etc) this is the bike i just bought linkdont even know what engine it has as the website dont specify it so would anyone kindly please direct me where and what to buy so to prevent any future headaches. Spark Plug.. Belt... Oil (i read that regular car oil is fine, 5w 50 others say 10w 40 etc) i'm trying to follow this guide but dont know if its fully accurate linkanyways, will really appreciate if any one have any tips/advice Thank You

First if I'm not mistaken those scoots even though produced in China , are actually of better quality then most that come out of China .
I would check the belt for what brand it is . if its not a gates or bando , I would buy a new one and replace it as soon as possible. You can use the stock belt for a backup. Most use 10w 40 , I've never seen anyone use 5w 50 . after 500 miles you can switch to a good synthetic 10w40 , some wait a little longer but that's up to you. Can you take a pick of the engine compartment for us ?

Many also like to remove the emissions and replace all the stock hoses with better quality hoses. However , when it comes to hoses your scoot may already have a higher quality on it.

BMS is definitely one of the top Chinese models. It is a 150cc, so it will have some version of the GY6 157QMJ engine, so parts will be very easy to find, and the engines are simple to work on once you get past the plastic body panels.
If you have the time when you do your PDI, please post pictures of the engine and interior of the CVT, would be interesting to see if they just slap chrome on the outside, or they also use better internals.

I have this exact scooter and I did absolutely nothing to it except put her together and ride it. It is all stock from the spark plug to the belt. I change the oil with Yamalube 10W40. There's a Yamaha dealer just down the road so that's what I use. The only advice I can give is break it in according to the book. If you try to get too much out of her before she's fully broke in (about a thousand miles) the float bowl will run dry on you and she'll die. I drove 2,400 miles in the year since I've had mine and I can run at wide open throttle now all day and she runs like a champ. And it's still all stock. I haven't even changed the spark plug yet. But I'm going to do that soon as it's warming up again.
The guys on this site know a lot more about scooters than do I, and they're going to tell you to do this and do that. I listened, thought it over, then decided against doing any mods and I'm glad I did. She runs just fine right out of the box. I figure if the Chinese can put a Space Station into orbit, they can certainly make a scooter. No offense fellas.

I was pretty sure they where good scoots , did you ever check the brand of belt that they used ? It is also very important to check your plug . no matter how reliable the scooter is from the factory , you want to make sure the scoot isn't running lean. A scoot that is running lean may run really good for awhile , but will not last that long , and if it has all the emissions the chance of running lean is high. I'm not saying u have to remove the emissions , just do a few adjustments if running lean . I'd also like to know what kind of carb is in there. And if it is sealed or not . of the carb is sealed and the scoot is running lean you would have to either unseal the carb or buy a new carb that isn't sealed. Many knock the China scoots when actually its usually the minor parts such as hoses , belts and not being able to adjust the fuel delivery that are the problems.

I'm not a reader of spark plugs so I don't know how mine fared after 2,458 miles. But here is a photo taken just a few minutes ago. And, I presume by a sealed carb you mean a plug over the A/F mixture screw? Yes, it has a plug and I haven't removed nor adjusted it. It's just as it came out of the box. I've had my belt cover off already to remove the initial belt wear dust but I don't remember what brand of belt it was. It was in perfect shape though after the initial 1,000 miles. I'm going to have another look this weekend and give it a pre-summer riding check-up. I'll prolly even kick the tires.

I'd like someone else to chime in on this . I would like to say it looks good but at the same time you have a whitish ring around the end of the plug . i hope someone can give you a better answer. All of mine are the same color at the tip and where the whitish ring is on yours .

Was it sitting all winter ? If so , the brown stuff on the tip of the plug is probably rust . and you are probably lean. I was thinking that the color looked good , but I don't think that is from burning but is rust . and the white ring has me leaning that way.

I think it's 100% impossible to draw any conclusion at all without first putting a brand new plug in, running it hard, turning the key off while at high RPM, coasting to a stop, then - on the side of the road - pulling the plug and getting a photo. Without that we have no clue at all what the plug is showing us.

A plug chop is a def a good idea , but you can also usually tell if you are running too rich or lean , especially if the plug has a whitish ring after 2400,miles . here is a pic

The main part to look at if running lean ",in my opinion " is the ring around the electrode . most times the electrode is a coffee brown color when optimal . a plug chop is just a quick way to find out if you are running too rich or lean. Running for many miles should give you the same results. It has me a little stumped to see the whitish ring and the coffee brown color , but still see the white on the electrode after 2400,miles. I would like to see a plug chop

I'm probably wrong about the rust thing. I guess you shouldn't have any rust unless moisture is getting into the head , which is possible but I'm not so sure.
