From what I know lithium batteries are great,,but will give not much warning when going dead,,they are either on or off,,so it could just fall on its face one day with little to no warning. I heard the lithium batteries for power drills are affected by the cold , but I haven heard anything about the scoot batteries. It would be nice to run into someone here that has used them or knows someone who has .

Just once. The Scooter keeps it charged.

Just once. The Scooter keeps it charged. ccarmac1 If you don't ride it for a bit you will want to keep the battery topped off by using a battery maintainer/charger to top it off every week to month it isn't in service. I bring my battery in at night when it is around or below 32 degrees to prevent damage by the cold. I charge my battery on the maintainer every week or so just to make sure the battery STAYS in great condition. In the summer I only do it ever couple weeks to a month, but during the colder times it is better to make sure it is always topped off.

A few years ago I bought a battery tender. Its a shumacher 1.5 amp charger that says speed charge on it. I recently found that it is a terrible charger for these scoot batteries . I had my new battery sitting for over a week after charging it so I decided to throw it on the charger for a little while . after a couple hr's I noticed the battery built up enough pressure inside to bubble up the top of the seal " at each opening of the cells " the pressure subsided after having it off the charger for awhile . I bought it at Walmart for $19 , again it is a Schumacher battery tender . I figured it was OK but I guess not.

But it is not a good maintainer for these batteries. I figured it would stop charging once charged then pick back up as the battery looses its charge , but it seems to constantly hit it with the 1.5 amps even after charged.

one more thing, should i change the oil immediately? before i turn it on? Some say to change it before riding it, some say to change it after a couple miles just to REALLY get it nice and warm, but most agree to do it ASAP. I use mobil1 full synthetic 0w-40 for the winter (using it now since still about 10 to 30 degrees most days), and conventional castrol 10w-40 for the warmer times, like 50+ degrees. I like the way the engine sounds when using conventional oil, it's deeper sounding. Full synthetic 0w-40 sounds lighter, even makes my scoot super quiet even with a broken muffler when I am idling.
