It is important to try a helmet on before you buy it. Head shape is the reason I can not wear an HJC helmet, they give me a headache after a 1/2 hour or so. I wear a Z1R FF with a red mohawk suction cupped to it. I wear a full face to avoid eating bugs and getting abused by the afternoon thunderstorms here.

Went and tried on a bunch of different helmets today.. Ordered a Z1R Nomad.... Didn't have the size I needed in the color I wanted...  typical |

Getting ready to ride, I have a complication: I wear glasses, which some helmets won't accommodate. (My mother had the same issue.) I also absolutely DO NOT want a black helmet. Guess I need to do some test-fitting today.

I dont beleive darker helmets would be hotter. That said, I have a darker full face helmet that isnt that hot and a silver open face helmet. I enjoy the open face on cooler days cause its more visable and I can just pop open the visor to gain access to my beautiful face  The full face goes on when I feel like protecting more  or when its colder outside |

Guess I need to do some test-fitting today. Modular full face is the best balance of protection and ease of use for eyeglass wearers. If you have a CycleGear near you they are a good place to sheck out helmets. The 7 day return policy if you find you do not like the helmet makes it so you won't get stuck with one you can't stand after you have worn it a few hours or so. |
