I am the only scooter dealer on my island. And just started. A customer came to me to install a 80cc BBK. And for some reason he returned it saying something happened. When starting it had a nasty sound. And found out after taking off the seat and looking at the engine from the inside that the back part of the engine, where the oil is put in. Has a big crack in it.
I can't think of anything I did wrong. I followed the instructions on the BBK from videos on youtube. tuned the valves, which were 64mm, to .08 intake and .10 exhaust.
I am no mechanic to these mopeds. I have only watched videos. But I have tons of parts and need to know where I have gone wrong.
If anyone can help me. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Can email at stephensamuelu@hotmail.com . Can even network and start a business relationship. Thanks.

steve do you have a picture of the damage ? Could it be because the crank broke and cracked the case ?

Man, that really blows.
Sometimes these engines can't take the increased torque. Rod failures and crank failures can happen. Always explain that to the customer ahead of time. In fact, put it in writing. Get a signature.
That said, did you test ride it? Did you replace the crankcase side gaskets? Did you take anything off other than the head and jug? Did you replace the oil pump?
Pictures would be great.
Sorry for your misfortune.

All good suggestions and opinions also always check the play in the crank. If the crank already has to much play it will not take the extra torque. If so then require a new crank or turn the job down.

JerryScript (or maybe Alley) showed me this: tinypic.comChoose your pic, upload it, then copy the IMG file location (ALL of it) and paste it into a comment. When you post the comment your photo will appear. For example, here is a recent photo of me:

Okay I think its finally working. First off may I thank each and everyone of you who have given me great input on whats going on. I have very little knowledge of finding out what went wrong. The big bore kit was ordered from Amazon for 60 bucks. I have very little knowledge on how to asses what went wrong. I followed the video on putting everything together and it ran fine for a bit. There is only 275 miles on the engine. So I don't know what went wrong. My guess is that it was running lean. Since everything else seemed fine. I adjusted the intake to .008 an the exhaust to .010. Thats pretty much all I can say for now. IS there a way to tell whats lean from rich? lean is bad right? rich is good?
