Went out to my garage to do an oil change this morning. I always check all fluids while it's draining, and when I went to check my front brake master cylinder fluid level, I saw this:  The plastic is cracked the entire length of the scratch. Looks like someone tried putting a long stem screwdriver in there to brake the plastic case enough to hot wire it, but got scared off. Luckily the damage is minimal, a bit of PVC glue, some fiberglass cloth, and some of the paint I used on my helmet, and it should look fine. I'm ordering one of the alarms that activates the keychain fob in your pocket when it goes off, and perhaps one of the GPS trackers, not taking any chances! |

kids i presume,  they shouldn't be allowed in public unsupervised. anybody with half a brain wouldn't attempt to steal a scooter. |

That happened in your garage ? John No, I don't know where it happened. It's in an area underneath the front of the instrument enclosure that isn't seen easily from a standing or riding position, and I mount from the left side. I took that picture kneeling and looking up and back. I've only been to work, where I can see it through the windows all the time, and it's parked on a busy street, and to the store a couple of times. I believe it happened the last time I went to the store. When I came back out, there was a guy standing about 30 yards away that kept staring at me as I geared up. I thought at the time he was innocently checking out my ride, now I wonder and will be keeping my eyes open for him just in case. |

Man you are lucky. Usually they throw the scooter into the back of a van and drive off with it. Then they can work on it at their leisure. I hope the damage isn't too severe. Good luck.

Darn, Sorry to hear that. Here in Grand Rapids, MI The crime rates went down 7-15% last year in all areas except one...auto theft. Police are saying that the 25% increase in auto theft was due solely to Moped/Scooter thefts.

Good thing you still have it,,man if I ever catch anybody rough housing my scooter or anything of mine,,they are in for an whoopin...a GPS tracking device would be awesome,,then you can make a visit with the cops by your side.
I should look into one myself if they are reasonable..

I have some pretty rough looking friends, all tatted up and shaved heads, and strapped with CC permits. I also have one friend I would take along who would keep us from going overboard with our "repossession" methods, to be sure we didn't end up with the cops being called on us. Always good to have one level head in the group!  |

Yup ATLATT. All The Locks All The Time. I throw my disk lock on even when I park at the convenience store if I'm going to be out of sight of the scoot. If people were honest, I wouldn't have to carry around a pound of keys for various things. It sucks to have your stuff stolen when you actually had a lock you could have used..

Well, it happened again. I got off work, stepped outside and my scooter was parked across two parking spaces. I had left it properly parked in one space less than 15 feet from the door to my office. This time they were able to pull the ignition plug, but were not able to reach down inside to jump the wires, thanks to my R/R blocking access without fully removing the front plastics. The ignition wires were hanging out the front and one of the screws to the front plastics was removed. They had also pretty much broken the ignition lock, you can't turn it all the way locked, but you can turn it half way now, not sure how to fix that, had to muscle the wheel back in line with the handle bars, will re-do the stem bearing in the morning. At least they didn't break anymore of the plastics this time. I will be following novaraptor's advice from now on, ATLATT, as well as parking it in front of the windows to the office instead of on the side with no windows like I had been. This is very disconcerting, but I guess that's what you can expect when you have one mean looking motor scooter! |

That is a real shame. I'm sorry to hear that your new scooter has been damaged by those scum bag, hoodlums... not once...but twice already. If I were forced to live in an area like yours, believe I'd end up in prison rather quickly....I have no patients with, or compassion for, the gutter rats you have to live around.

So they moved the bike? It was not locked?
What the he** are you thinking, JerryScript? Even though it is not 100% effective; a lock and chain provides excellent protection when paired with steel poles, nice thick trees or well-anchored hand rails. I know you know this, but I have had a couple scoots stolen and I do not wish that dreadful feeling on anyone who has put hard-earned money, time and effort into scoot keep-up. If I have a choice of locking it to a strong anchor out-of-sight or leaving it unlocked in-sight: I will choose the lock method 100% of the time. JMO.
I pray that I never have to see this type of post from you again, JerryScript Very disheartening.
