Taos, NM is pretty far off the map, it's just a ski town. My new job is electrical maintenance tech at one of the resorts there. Even though i'm trying to use off holiday rentals it still runs in the $2000-2500 range to rent a truck.  I really want to figure out how to take the scoot. But it seems that it will always cost more than the scoot is worth (not counting sentimental). |

Well, It looks like the hitch won't fit. Cutting the muffler tips off will not leave enough material to weld back up and modding the hitch is going to cost a good bit more than I want. I did have an amazing offer from Bandito2 to tow it out there on his trailer with his Silverwing.  That would make an epic thread. So, There is a really nice TGB Delivery 50cc on CL Grand Rapids, Michigan right now... I'll just have to get a different scoot down there or a sidecar for my Triumph Bonneville so I can take my pooch on rides.  |

Just HOW bad does a cop have to be for you to not defend him? Sorry I have to post this again in this thread. Im not a cop hater, but I do believe that many go beyond the reasonable to achieve the results that they want. That being said, In the military (Navy) and afterwards, I have met many good cops (just from my line of work) who have not held my background against me (I was a "bad" kid when I was young and they knew it) and actually supported me in my endeavors. One in particular went beyond bed bath and beyond to defend me when a (security) firm I worked for tried to dismiss me for insubordination when I was not even on duty that day. He just happened to be the door guard that day. He actually got canned from the sheriffs dept. for his testimony. AND HIS DAD WAS DEPUTY DIRECTOR!!!!! The police are far out of line and deserve to be punished like any other civilian. |

This is just wicked! I speak German But you can catch the drift, they just have a thing for POWER that I love. There are many (German) videos to build a twin from almost any scoot motor.

The problem isn't the trailer. I have an old snowmobile trailer at my cottage that I can use. The problem is bolting a hitch to my car. The only hitch available for the Ford Contour does not fit my Contour SVT without heavy modification because the SVT model has dual exhaust and ground effects that get in the way. I did order a regular Contour hitch from O'reillys today because they say it will fit all Contours. I know that this isn't true but I can pick it up and use it for measurements and then return it if I cannot make it work without cutting it apart and re-welding it. I also found a perfect condition SVT rear bumper cover nearby that I am going to pick up tomorrow because IF I can make the hitch work I will still have to cut a hole in the bumper mesh for the receiver to pass through. When I get to NM I can take the hitch back off and put the new bumper cover on thus returning the car to stock (and maintaining its value as an unmodified rare car). |

scooter jerseyboy come to think about it my grandfather is a trucker. He was in Michigan just last week. He only does short runs though. Ill try that route also. I'm not in a huge hurry to use the scoot (even though my scoot and bicycles are the daily drivers and the others are considered toys) but considering I have 3 motorcycles and the car I think I can wait until he has a route down south from his home base in Omaha, NE to drive the scoot again . I'll have to ask him though. Truckers have very stringent rules for GVW and expected loads and he works for a company. He is not independant. javarod Ill look into more LTL companies, I did check uship but Taos is so far out of a standard shipping route it makes for a very expensive trip. JerryScript I am kinda leaning toward the hitch mod but my car is pristine stock and I would like to keep it that way. It seems to be the cheapest other than greyhound so far, or selling my car and buying a truck/van.
