Hi I just bought a Taizhou Velocity Scooter MP150-07 in a not running condition. So far I know the battery is bad, I have tried to charge it over night with no good results.I noticed under the seat I can not get to the carb or the engine. Do I have to take all the body parts off to get to the engine. The young man I bought it from left it setting for a year. What are the main things I need to check and fix. [Clean the carb, change the oils and check the belt] I guess it would be a bad idea to try to jump the battery from a 12 volt automobile. Would this fry the stator or other engine parts. Here's some pics of the scooter. I got some of the rust off so far with a wire brush and aluminum foil.

I watched a guy on youtube use a big C vise to remove and install the valve stem, is this the best way. Just wondering

To remove the valve stem just cut the stem against the rim and push it out .

ok just got the new valve stem in and it holds air good. Now after trying to jump the scoot off with no results. I decide to remove the seat covering. I noticed a lot of vacuum lines broken off. What size are the lines and where is the best place to get replacements at. Next I removed the spark plug and grounded it out to the metal brace and seen no spark. I also grounded it to a metal bolt. No spark what so ever. Ok what do I need to replace? or check. here is the number on the coil wire. FLPO806. is this the coil?
Thanks in advance.

also noticed the glass piece on the master cylinder is broke. I still have brake light coming on an seems to have brakes. Could this be killing the spark. Can't I remove a wire somewhere to disable the kill switch to test to see if this is the problem.
Thanks

ok just checked the stator. This is what i did :
switched the multimeter to AC located and disconnected the black/red wire. and the blue/yellow wire the black/red wire should read 20vAC -100vAC the blue/yellow wire should read 0.05vAC
These are the readings i got black/red wire 95vAC blue/white[yellow?] 0.2vAC
now how do I check the cdi and coil.
did I check the stator correctly

ok just did some more testing.
I check the cdi out to the coil while cranking. I read I should be getting at the least 18vAC? I do not get any voltage out from the CDI to the coil. So I am thinking that it is the CDI unit? I also checked the ohms on the coil by checking both plugs with an ohm setting. I am getting 0.4 on the coil.
Does this look correct from how I check the system.

If you have a CDI with a TWO PLUG on the right and a 4 plug on the left, SEE IF YOU HAVE a BLACK and WHITE wire on the TOP of the TWO PLUG . If so that is your killswtch wire you can pull that off using a small screwdriver to open the tab inside and pull the wire off NOW check if you have spark. Alleyoop

CDI fixed the scoot. The carb is gummed up pretty bad. I rode it up the road without a battery. LOL and had to push it home. oh well got it going ..now to tune it.

You can get some sea-foam and add 1 oz per gallon of gas to try and get it cleaned up if it doesn't work you can take the carb off and clean it. Here is a kit for the site glass for you reservoir. www.newrivercyclesalvage.com/sight-glass.html
