I hey guys. I have a 2stroke keeway hurricane that i just purchased from a police auction, It runs fine however it leaves a cloud of smoke behind it. I did some research and found that synthetic is better because its smokeless. So i grabbed a bottle of that and dumped the regular 2 cycle oil. (safely!) I realize that there is still regular 2 cycle oil in the line that or went from fuel pump to carb. How long will it take for that regular oil to be used up that is in the lines? Also I have noticed that if I take silencer off the end of the exhaust It tends to smoke less could my silencer be carbon deposit city?
Also I need to get this thing registered because the great state of VA is anal about these things now, however the police nor I could find the vin in the usual place between your legs or behind the place where your shins are. However, I found something resembling a vin number on the engine at the very back nearest where you adjust back breaks. But it only has 16 characters and I know vins usually have 17. (it also had star symbols in 2 places half way into the vin and again at the end) And yes I went back to recheck and yes there are 16 characters. Any help Riders?

This is what the owner of a Keeway Hurricane who had trouble finding the vin had to say on FixYa:
"It was located behind the frame box (under the handle bars behind a plastic covering)"

No joy. I look in all three places. The first is where it usually is but it has nothing there. The second there isnt anything attached there at all. And the third has the flimsy plate and has a small place exactly where number should go however there is no number. Theres also another flimsy plate on the plastics directly behind where you calf muscles should go. They both have Keeway and Hurricane and look official giving my EPA and noise standards but no VIN. Could I somehow get a Vin engraved? Or get my money back?

FOUND THE VIN! It was litterally in the crack of the scooter. I just happen to stumble upon it. It was under the footboard and slightly up the frame. NONE of the usual spots. I had to unbolt quite a few things to get a full view of it.
Now on to my smoking.....any suggestions?

Cheap oil with smoke and leave a com trail . Full or synthetic blend will smoke a tad bit at start up when it is cold but not or not much after it warms up . I like Maxxima Pro synthetic blend around 10 a quart . If you have the extra cabbage Motul 710 is great but 17 a quart . Make sure whatever oil you get says injector instead of premix only if using the oil tank . Smoking on startup is a great sign which means it is getting oil . A buddy ran his Elite oil tank dry and it seized up destroying the rings and piston .
You may have to ride it some more to burn up the old oil before smoking stops or lessens . If it still does with the premium oil beyond startup you may have worn rings which allows compression blowby .
I premix since my oil tank cracked and since it 100% sure bet and I use 50 to 1 which is 3 ozs per gallon .
Remove and clean the sparkplug as it may have carbon build up . Running at low RPMs will also cause carbon build up on the top of the piston , head and in the exhaust , so wind it up sometimes .
