so i pulled out of my drive way turned the corner and my 2010 150cc meiduo started to "drag" like it was losing power or more like someone was holding it down. then it sped up and did it again i made it a total of two blocks before it finally died. naturally i walked it home cause it wouldnt kick back up . i just had the electric starter replaced and the oil changed.
when the lever is held and button is pressed i can hear the starter spin but it never fires. any ideas???
i have a total of 2000 miles on it i bought it at 750 miles someone said spark plug but i had a new one installed when i bought it. what really bothers me is this happened at about 11 in the morning i had already been riding around running errands since 8 that morning.

Hello,
If you have access to starter fluid - squirt a bit down the carb throat. --> if it starts and then dies you have a fuel problem.
If its a fuel problem diagnose as follows :
1.) is fuel in the tank - if no - add gas .....if yes go to 2. 2.) is fuel making it to the fuel pump - unplug fuel pump (side going to carb) - - attach a spare hose to the fuel pump and run the hose from the fuel pump to a jar or can - press starter button and hold for 10 - 15 seconds to see if fuel is pumping gas. - if no then check fuel filter between tank and pump ..... if yes, reattach original fuel line to fuel pump and go to 3. 3.) TURN "OFF" the run button so it will not start. Then "hold throttle full open" and hold the starter button for 5 - 15 seconds. Smell around the carb for strong gas odors - if no fuel is smelled then its a carb problem.
this is a basic fuel supply check.
The fuel pump is vacuum operated - check for vacuum hose leaks - all vacuum hoses - EVEN THOSE THAT DONT GO TO THE FUEL PUMP.
This is a good place to start since it was running.
Combustion / explosion in the engine chamber needs three things --- Air (breather / filter), fuel (gas), fire (spark plug)
report your findings and maybe I or others can offer the next steps depending on your results..

I thought it was a spark plug issue i found it to be very dirty so i cleaned it. tried it and didnt spark so i just ran out and got a new one but i got the same result no spark. i test my cables and connections and positive results with multimeter but i will check the fuel now that you mention it i wasnt finding any kind of gas small when i opened the carb at the top but i will run through that check list to eliminate any fuel problems
i will post my finding tonight/tomorrow morning

Just read your reply from yesterday, YOUR STATEMET : "thought it was a spark plug issue i found it to be very dirty so i cleaned it. tried it and didnt spark so i just ran out and got a new one but i got the same result no spark." So.... No spark, No fire. When you check it for spark did you do it like this / with the ground ?? (see video in this link) : This guy has great vids - his you tube home page is below and applies to 50cc - 150cc (Even though he uses the 50cc in most of his videos) : Link ---> www.youtube.com/channel/UCUxvvD_DC7kkG4OiS2S_B7gAlthough forums like this one offer more interaction / idea swaps / ect - which gets you to the videos posted above -- so don't drop your login / password & share what you learn. Another pertinent vid by another guy for electrical diaganostic is here : These should help you eliminate some other issues since the spark is new - and properly tested & gaped. Hope this helps - I will re-check thread tonight / tomorrow morning.

just did the starter fluid test no combustion so now that i have these videos i am going to test the cdi wire and the coil see if thats where it may be at
edit: on the testing of the spark plug that is how i tested it against the engine block but sadly no arc in plug ...

It is common for a ground wire to come loose so I would first check the wiring . Has it been going out but still run or die all of the sudden ? Got a spare CDI to test ? On my 2T the crappy boot kept coming off and the spring broke off . I had been unscrewing the cap off off the sparkplug tip but after the spring broke I had to put in back on and jam the boot on . I bought an orange coil and wire combo from Scrappy Dog and it was new again . It would run but fizzle . No fire could be CDI , coil , crank trigger , bad run/kill switch etc so you will need to run a continuity test and see where the flow stops at .
I would do the starting or carb cleaner spray test after I tested for fire and it was good .

When my bike did this it was a catastrophic stator failure (it failed mechanically)

yeah i checked all the wiring per the videos instructions i found the spark coil was not reading as it should and because all the wiring tested ok i went ahead and got a cdi. so i am just going to replace the cdi and spark plug coil w/ the boot assembly cause im having the same issue where it wont screw on it just has to be shoved in.
last time it did this it was the stator and i just replaced that 2-3 months ago.

so still not working havent had time to get to it but i finally got 4 hours to mess with it yesterday.
so i started with air i checked and cleaned the intake and filters disassembled and reassembled everything leading up to the carb
then fuel removed all lines and inspected .. inspected fuel filter and vapor lines leading from tank to carb everything checked out.
then i came back to spark. retested EVERYTHING. as i said before stator and pickup were replaced 2-3 months ago. just put in a new CDI and spark coil and boot. tested with multi meter on all wires. heres the strange think i cant figure out if you hold the spark plug against the motor and crank you should see a spark. (as long as it gap correctly which i did) but there isnt a spark . so i tested the boot and i get a reading. power all the way to the boot but the dang spark plug wont fire. even after buying two spark plugs (thought the first one i got could have been bad). i dont understand what it is i could be doing wrong.
any ideas anyone??

Is the KILLSWITCH in the run position? Do you see any wires going to the SIDESTAND if so that is also a KILLSWITCH. To eliminate the CDI being grounded take the KILLWIRE off the CDI. Alleyoop

If you have no spark why take a chance on messing up other things before resolving the no-spark issue? Since the stator and pickup were changed recently the wiring coming through the grommet would be the first thing to check since too little slack could have it pulled from the stator and too much could have it rubbing against the flywheel while tying the bundle too tight could have cut one of the leads through. The pickup coils do go bad and have been known to come defective from new. Scrappy Dog use to sell them seperately from the stator for about $10.

Easy to test both, the power wire from the stator cranking should read anywhere from 30+Vac and the Coil cranking should read anywhere from .05-2.5v. Alleyoop

So it has been a while and I let the scooter stored till I could get back to it. Last I checked I have replaced the spark plug I replaced the ignition coil and boot replaced the CDI unit and just yesterday replaced the stator. I have tested all connections and it will turn over but won't fire. The only reason I messed with fuel lines and stuff was I bought it used so I figured I would give it a once over since I had it apart already.
I also have a Honda rebel and I have never had any issue with fixing it so I don't want to say that I'm not mechanically inclined. I just can't figure it out . Battery is good kill switch and ignition cylinder are good I have checked all grounds. Yeah I'm pretty much stumped and I don't have a way to trailer it to a shop or pay their shop fees any ideas
