I find this attachment gets a scooter noticed and really cuts down on tailgating. BTW, in all seriousness I ordered the XP modulator from Backoff. (they still might do something stupid but at least they'll know I'm there.)

I didn't go all out, but I added a few reflectors that I cut into strips, and a few red reflector strips on my rear turn signal arms, that I circled. They show up really good in this picture, I had the right angle when I took it. Better than nothing. Pic is about 5 years old exactly.

I wear a Silver Jacket with a reflective weave that lights up like a RhienStone Cowboy at night when the headlights shine on it and I still ended up riding the front bumper of a Buick SUV this past November. I wear a size 50 jacket so that is quite a bit of reflective area.
Do what you can to be seen however those texters can't even walk down a hallway without walking into you never mind drive safely. The other day I almost got mowed down by someone texting in the elevator who just ran out with their face buried in their cell phone the moment the door opened. It is a good thing that I was standing off the the side figuring they would stay to the right of the hallway but I was wrong they hugged the left side going the wrong way opposite everyone else on top of it all.

I had a young gal walk right into the side of my stake body truck while it was parked in a home improvement center parking lot last year while she was texting. She hit it hard enough that she suffered a concussion which required an ambulance and can you believe this? She hired an attorney to bring a law suit against me. The judge just laughed at her and gave her attorney a good 15 minute chewing out for bringing such a frivolous case into his courtroom. She had to pay my attorney's fees and that pissed her off enough that she started telling the judge he was not competent. The courtroom erupted in laughter. as he told her to close her mouth before she was charged with contempt.

A whole generation with less in their heads than the tires on my scoot.

There is no antidote for stupid...
Unfortunately, that idiot will likely text her way into a government position where she gets to legislate her version of the American dream... What a nightmare...
So goes "the new normal" in America.

Maybe somebody could offer her a trip to the grand canyon and let nature take its course. Or maybe just an invite to the Starbucks in the city and she might walk right into traffic while her head is down trying to text on her phone to her BFF that she's going down the street and getting a free cappuccino. Of course with true irony, at the same time, she'll get bounced off the bumper of a hipster texting on his phone to his pals that he is on his way to take them to the art gallery. (then he'll text them that he's pissed off now and he'll be late because some fleebag tw*t jumped on his Prius and busted his grill and windshield.) ..........it could happen.

I hear ya. I'm going to replace my helmet with a dayglo variety. Maybe sew a brilliant safety orange vest to my riding jacket. Anything to add more visual stimulation for weary or inattentive drivers. That, and try some different positioning when I'm in precarious circumstances at a red light. You can get (I have) a hi-visibility jacket. Mine is a Teknic.

Thanks Bandito2. A most imaginative skewering of useless self-important "fashion balloons" .

It's not just scooters, I had two friends on a Harley get killed last Sunday in Michigan by a woman who didn't notice traffic stopped in front of her (texting?) and swerved into the oncoming lane and hit my friends head-on.

I am so sorry for your loss, we riders are a small community, anyone who is on two wheels cannot help but be affected by such a tradgy. Again my most heartfelt condolences to you and the family and friends who knew them.

Bobshaw, I sure hate hearing that. But the reality of it is worth bearing for those of us out there in suburbia especially. My event and hearing about others' does make me pause and reconsider sometimes where and when I want to ride my two wheeled vehicles.
